So there is this number of 500 hours to produce documents. As if that is some really big number. That's 1 person for three months. Or, better yet, about 5 hours per campus times 100 campuses. And from what I see, 1 person for 3 months is nothing compared to other crap that CCi comes up with. Yet after 5 months, why was there such little progress? Beyond that, I still cannot understand the basic CCi logic. I can almost hear it now, "Hey ED, you are sending us cash right away, and we thank you for that. Please understand that we don't have the resources to send you the documents we are legally required to send." and then this quickly turns to, "Hey ED, now that you quit sending us quick cash, we have plenty of resources to send documents to you." Suddenly, and without cash, CCi was able to designate "approximately 100 people" to "document production." Sure the going concern cannon was fired, but there was plenty of time to produce documents. There are two options I can think of: 1. The documents didn't exist (but then why did the document production suddenly start in June?), 2. CCi doesn't like what's in the documents, or a combination of the two. But beyond that, CCi never pays me within 24 to 72 hours. The least amount of time I must wait is 6 days, if I work on the Saturday closest to payday, so an average of about 14 days, yet ED imposing a 21 day delay is the end of the world. CRAZY!

CCI will not provide documents, and will request for extensions, after extensions, until buyers finally buy Heald and teach out all the other schools and close them. Attorney General will sue them for money, ED will fine them, but CCI will file for bankruptcy.
That's it. CCI executives get away, everyone is happy.
The ED imposed the penalty as a result of improprieties alleged by the Ca and MA attorney general suits. It is connected
off by 1 or 2 percent? CCI is stating that we have approximately a 70 percent grad rate and 70 percent placement rate! The DOE is saying that is all a bunch of lies. It has NOTHING to do with getting the paperwork to them timely - it is that CCI falsified documentation.

Discovery deadlines in the Court for Req for Prod of Docs is 30 days. Extensions are granted as a professional courtesy but if there is no compliance the requesting party can file a Motion to Compel and then sanctions can begin. This was a strategy by defense counsel that backfired.
The data and reports are there and have been. When all is said and done and the smoke clears perhaps we will hear the ED side. They have made mistakes and moved the goal posts quite a few times so it isn't all CCI fault. I do know that the numbers of the job placement rates are off less than 1% to 2%.

A request for production of documents is part of Discovery which is part of the Calif AG lawsuit. These are handled by outside lawyers who instruct the client "CCI" what. How and when to produce. It involves searching 99.9 percent email. They may have faked the placement numbers and don't want to produce those but in the initial investigation stage the AG found documents to that effect because it is mentioned in the lawsuit. This recent request is an attempt by Cci to prove they didn't inflate the numbers hence the "dog ate my homework" defense. They slipped through a suit in 2007 so they probably think they can thug their way out again by lawyering up. They hired a really expensive firm in LA. Chickens have come home to roost.
