Thread regarding Corinthian Colleges Inc. layoffs

We talk about having Horrible Bosses and bad upper management.

we seem to really rag on the bad people who screwed alot of people over. But for one second let's take the time to reflect on the people who made a difference and actually helped. Who are those people for you? At your campus?

Susan Wynne, our campus president. I don't work there anymore but I remember her constant communication with us was a blessing. She worked hard for our students and always had us in mind. She has tact and grace and I wish her well in all her future endeavors.

I really liked Dave Whiteford as well. He was part of a really good Eastern management team that is no more. Literally none of them are still with the company.

Pat Hardy is a top of the line Campus President. I know that I learned a ton from her and it appeared that everyone that worked for her was typically happy, even during the rough times.

Dave Whiteford - best boss ever for me and I liked the fact that he didn't get along with Bob.

Actually helped... enroll poor students? Keep students in class so the federal money keeps flowing? Fake job placements? "Help" is a very loaded term.

Cal Mosher was an account representative at the Bremerton Campus in Washington. He helped secure lasting relationships with key employers and helped to train new account reps. The guy worked hard and helped hundreds of students find employment. I’m not sure if he quit or was fired but he is not there anymore. Good people don’t last at CCI.

Mark Plitzuweit was one of the best I had (Divisional Director, South Division). Complete staff proponent and student outcomes centered leader that was always willing to listen first, offer advice, and he would jump right in when necessary. He also knew more about student retention than anyone else I have ever worked with. Would love to work with for him again.

Jim Askins-when he was a campus president, he interacted with students made clear his expectations to them. He also ran the campus efficiently and fairly, weeded out a lot of people who had bad attitudes and were not performing. Now he is our RVPA and never misses a start at the campus, still interacts with students, helping them get organized and ready to go to class. I've also seen him helping whomever asks for it, reps, front desk, presidents...it's sad that a genuine and honest employee that gets it, will probably be the first to go

How is it courageous to pass a student who is functionally illiterate? Doing the right thing means failing students who haven't mastered the material or are unemployable due to profound communications issues. I don't know what campus you're on, but where I'm at nobody does that, even though over half of the students will grad without being able to perform at the most minimal level in their field. We just let CCi keep taking their (and the government's) money and repeat the mantra that there are no bad students. All of them deserve a chance, right? A chance to be $50K in debt and unemployable that is.

Good positive thinking... let's see jennifer white was our campus president and did an amazing job! she treated everybody equally and fair it didn't matter if you're an education, finance or admissions. she was a fierce leader and took No bs from anybody, she led a.very great team and had high expectations from everybody, which we all met. Again all 5 feet 2 inches 110 pounds of fierceness all rolled into one!! Her departure from CCI, was bittersweet. She left the company to pursue her dream of doing work in third world countries. That's how amazing she was, if she knew how badly Fujica drove that campus into the ground she would probably die. Then we also had Donna McCord Kilbreath who was program chair then promoted to Director of Education. She works hard every single day, and treated everybody fairly. But like all good employees at CCI she to sell victimto horrible upper management. I know now she's in a better place and loving it.then there was also Lisa gayles, who started out her career at cci as a instructor, then moved up to being a program chair. Yet again, like all good cci employees she fell victim to the unfairness and bullying. And just like everybody else she got out, and found a better job.

Anonymous17523 - Not true - some came to CCi within the last 5 years and not privvy to the whispers on the 4th floor because they have been too busy doing the right thing, for the right reasons. It doesn't take courage to walk away, it takes courage to stick it out and make changes.

Seriously, all the really good people have quit or been fired by now. There are people trying to do a fairly good job and hanging in there, but mostly because they need a job. Everyone is beaten down and we all allow ourselves to be compromised by management to make a living. Doesn't matter if you're admissions or an instructor. Anyone who showed the courage to stand up for what was right are gone because of it. Sorry!
