Thread regarding Corinthian Colleges Inc. layoffs

(My guess) CCI files BK by the end of the month.

CCI and ED may or may not get a shutdown agreement in place. The longer it takes to get the deal done then the more likely BK gets filed. All of the talk about Heald getting sold is just that, TALK. Prospective investors have already turned down the prospect of buying Heald. California and the other states simply are not going to walk away from their lawsuits short of a BK filing. ED has already been told in so many words that "If you think we are going to allow someone else take these schools over without assuming the liabilities then we are going to make a big stink". California has already told the Court and CCI that "We don't want any NEW students at CCI schools". CCI correctly points out "If we don't get new students then no one will buy our schools". CA response is "That's the point". My guess is that by July 30 we will see a CCI Chapter 7 BK.

well I'd like to think so, however Jack and all the rest- Presidents, Directors unfortunately got their pay and will run with it- while these poor, some in the very literal sense, students are stuck with paperless degrees that represent a lowly institution with an unfavorable reputation; a graduate should be grateful at the very least they get a job. Now, how to pay for all these loan debts? Hello TAXPAYERS! I was at CCI for eight years in Orlando and with each passing year it got worse and worse with unprofessional presidents, managers- and most students that should have been seeking mental help and/or in jail. But for the serious few, they get 50,000 loans and a shameful school to be associated with. I sure hope they throw these Presidents flat on their big fat asses.....

Time will tell. My money says CH 7 BK. NO ONE is going to TOUCH (e.g. buy a CCI school) unless it can get a waiver on the liabilities. Department of Education showed up at the settlement conference hearing (which has been postponed until Sept 30) and CA told the Department of Education "Look whoever takes over CCI has to deal with the lawsuit". California told CCI and ED that the liabilities remain UNLESS discharged in BK.

17819, its pretty hard to believe anything anymore. Stuck with this and had faith, but the changes that were kept super quiet this week and the complete lack of communication, why should anyone listen to what you posted.

It's only a question of when, and not if.

Not a chance - just dotting the i's and crossing the t's as we speak on the final agreement. Planning for a Monday announcement.

BK is not an option unless we close the company BK means we instantly lose access to financial aid money.
