Question for CCI Accounting, Business Adjuncts and Professors

If you were teaching a class and wanted to use CCI as an example and lesson as how not to run a company into the ground and near bankruptcy, can you list 10 major errors management did along the way from the past to present?

  1. They purchased two regionally accredited schools without understanding the framework of regional accreditation.

  2. Jack Massimino has no boss.

  3. There is a complete absence of mechanisms for communication up the chain of command.

  4. Failure to use employee survey for substantial, meaningful change.

  5. Internal audit reports to executive leadership rather than the board.

  6. Crushing workloads limit effectiveness of management. CSC staff rarely return my emails.

  7. Leadership shadows of CCi management too short.

  8. Reliance on adjunct rather than full-time faculty fraught with hidden costs and short term commitments to the college.

  9. Grew too cash without infrastructure. Amazing that a company with 12,000 employees used paper time sheets until last year.

  10. Published values (integrity, service, excellence, and something else) don't mention students. These values are so generic that they don't capture values of an educational institution.

  11. Evaluating faculty based on course completion (refer to Chronicle of Higher Education article, May 2011) leads to the erosion of academic quality. Wouldn't you pass a failing student if your job was on the line?

  12. Initiatives not assessed for efficacy. What makes something good or bad at CCi seems to be based on anecdote rather than thoughtful evaluation.

  13. Failure of leadership to admit mistakes.

Ha! I finished a PR class Thursday night with the lesson topic "crisis communications." I used CCI as the example. We disseminated the actual press releases, as well as internal communications. It was an outstanding learning opportunity, and I believe my students received an excellent learning experience, but it felt like being on the Titanic discussing how ships sink. I hope I can teach a class next semester on resume writing and job hunting...

The Program Leads (PLs) were one of the useless positions they have. They created all of these PODs layered with new PDs and PLs and then didn't figure out the what the PLs had to do until WEEKS into the term. They created roles before deciding responsibilities. Chicken and Egg.

Seems no one on any CCi campus knows how to read financial statements anyway. Likely the remaining accounting instructors knew to keep quiet.

Install the POD unit and then never use it the way it was suppose to be used.....PLs became home based telemarketers......
