Thread regarding Corinthian Colleges Inc. layoffs

Is SFS Socle? Heard they were going down.

I'm hearing that SFS in Tampa is being closed. Is that the same thing as Socle or no? It's all so confusing!

Has anyone in Tampa heard anything? The schools are all going to be closed or for sale, are they going to continue enrolling new students? Will they wind down SFS operations gradually as the student population goes down?

Some clients are CDR only. Be sure you send them this link: http://higheredwatch.newamerica.net/blogposts/2012/the_real_story_behind_corinthian_colleges_plummeting_default_rates-72503 It's amazing that after this kind of negative publicity (not to mention all the Salon.com & HuffPost coverage) that this company sold its services in CDR to OTHER colleges! I guess the name change really did work.

I'm worried about the clients. I wonder if they've even been told what's going on?!? I think I'll give them a head's up. I've got

Grace Divinity,

Grayson College,

North Central Texas College,

East West University,

and New York Film Academy as the clients (courtesy Dr Doo Doo). Am I missing any? Thanks!

“We aren’t related to CCi and are uninvolved with them. They are simply a client that we provide some financial aid services to.” I’m not sure why people keep showing up on this board trying to say this. Maybe they think that if their client companies are reading up on CCi that it might help keep them in the dark. Socle is incorporated as a wholly owned and operated subsidiary of CCi. It started with Student Financial Services in 2009 or 2010, which was a CCi department in Tampa that took over behind-the-scenes financial aid processing from Global Financial. They changed their name in 2013 to distance themselves from CCi in order to facilitate hoodwinking...er... obtaining outside clients for their services. They are in the same location and have the same leadership/management team as they had before.

Get it right people!!! Read up on Socle Education http://socleeducation.com/ We aren’t related to CCi and are uninvolved with them. They are simply a client that we provide some financial aid services to.

The last reply is basically correct. We haven't heard anything, but there have been a few posts on here since last week stating rumors of SFS shutdown. I guess we'll have to just wait and see.

SFS changed their name to Socle in 2013, which has caused a lot of confusion. They also have tried to distance themselves from CCi by incorporating under a new name, but they are a wholly owned and controlled subsidiary of CCi and had to sign the SEC document. Their goal was to offer financial aid services (the same ones that we were all so impressed with, right?) to other colleges as an outside income source. It's possible that someone would buy them, but unlikely. They only have a few small clients, mostly small Christian schools in Texas. When CCi declares bankruptcy (most likely scenario) they will cease to exists and the clienst will join the long creditor queue. By the way, even though CSC is listed as their official address, they ARE in Tampa.
