There are some seriously messed up posts here (and obviously not from people who are on this board for the usual reasons). No, IT placement companies DO NOT charge you 20% of your yearly salary to find you a job! This is a predatory company. I just looked it up, and they are into all kinds of different business, most of which are known for attracting shady people (real estate, for example).

I might have considered contacting her, except for all of the obvious planted responses. Why would these people just happen to be on this board? And usually recruiter/placement agencies collect fees from the employer, not the job seeker. Something doesn't smell right here.
We don't need a lot of services we buy. We do so because it's easier. If she helps you great. If she doesn't, well, then great too. Everyone on this board should know about hard work and little reward - unless of course, you are not a real adjunct. For my part, we know it's either going to be a numbers game or it's going to be a part time gig. For me, part time. But if I wanted to go full time? I don't have the patience of time to fill out a thousand flavors of the same documentation. I would outsource that. Work smarter - not harder.
Props to her for coming on and explaining it. Take it or leave it, it's your call
Same thing is happening in IT. I have recruiters calling me for jobs and info on other people who might be looking. They are in sales and if they place me it is anywhere from 15% - 20% of my yearly salary. 15k to 20k isn't to bad. I get a job and they bust their butts to place me
I teach for several schools (many long-term) and got them on my own. You don't need her so-called services. You can do everything she is charging for free. Don't spend your money needlessly for this.
Let's all advertise our businesses to hundreds or thousands of instructors. She sounds genuinely concerned in the message but we all know it's to line her own pockets. Geez that is like the way this school works. We care about students..bs you do. Same as this babb woman.
She should not have sent that out. She used her 'in' with CCI as an avenue for free advertising for her business. Ethically wrong on so many levels.
If it weren't for Dani, many Adjuncts would be alone and isolated. They would just be treated like complete dirt and left in the dark. I've worked in administration at a for profit online school, that's were I met her. I can tell you how much you mean to a school, not much! Please stick together and do what's best for yourselves and fellow educators. Good luck in your job search and I'm sure Dani will be happy to lend advice when you need it.
Dani is completely legit. She has been my client for over 12 years, we have coauthored a book together, as well as working together over the years. Of course, during this time she has become a great friend as she is one of the kindest, most compassionate and driven people that gives far more than she receives in everything she does. Given the cynical world we live in, there is no issue with being concerned if this is a scam, but maybe you should look at all of the free resources and information she provides. Since I actually help her with this service, I can tell you firsthand that our clients become friends. They are utterly grateful at the work that goes in to delivering as much as we do. As I am not from the educational industry, I can provide complete objectivity in stating that her email was genuine and heartfelt. Were I a leader at Corinthian, or even simply staff, I would be appreciative that someone on staff took the leadership position that Dani did in making the statements that she has.
I have worked with Dr Babb and she is legit. She helped me with my CV and I got a new job at American Public University. If you are in online ed she is the one I would recommend for help
Thanks for sharing this. Can this be posted here on the board? Are Heald and Everest going to be firing adjuncts? No one is telling anyone anything and it makes it tough to plan.
She's very good actually I have used her services. The free Facebook group she hosts that I am a member of is Facebook.com/onlineprofessors
A lot of us post about her work in there and she answers our questions all day. Very helpful.
This is not a scam. Dani Babb is one of the most generous, benevolent, and intelligent women I have known. She is trying to help employees who are scared of being displaced. Many of her services are free..and she is offering discounted services for other things. She truly gives back to our industry and barely breaks even on anything she does for adjuncts. We needed an advocate and we finally have one in her!
There is nothing unethical about offering services. What is unethical is Corinthian's predatory practices. I left last year after teaching there for a number of years. I got very tired of having 25%, and more, of my students each session never showing up. I've moved into the not for profit market - totally different.
Everst is a rip-off... obviously.
This is her .. Not a scam .. :-) Happy to say! I've been doing this for years since Dr. Mirabella and I wrote our book with Wiley. I don't think I violated a rule by sending out info about how to rewrite your CV for this market and a free network resource that helps people find work and make connections ..
Dani
She violated HR rules by sending that e-mail. Unethical of her to prey on faculty after our poor students were preyed upon.
Danni is for real. In my opinion, I think she is going after you all for business. She has a service where you pay a monthly fee and she sends you job leads.
