Thread regarding Corinthian Colleges Inc. layoffs

Bensalem

What really happened at the Bensalem campus. I was enrolled and ready to start then I get a call from some woman named Meg who said the schools closed. I googled and saw this site. Any info why it wasn't every campus and only a select few. This was the only Everest close so I wanted to go. Help!

you got lucky I just left Bensalem after watching a electrical instructor allow students each get up and hit a student for sitting on his phone during a class in May, and this guy was acting lead. Nice way to lead thus I left. No material no direction and no enforcement of any rules.

Im sure his old job at the power company didn't allow that crap!

They didn't know they were going to have to "kick anyone out". All those students are approved for a refund, like it never even happened. Take it as a few free days of study time. You missed out on continuing your education with a faulty institution but half the staff lost jobs.

They dropped the intro MA students who started in June. Told them they wouldn't be able to finish by the march close date. They shouldn't have been enrolled in the first place knowing they were going to kick them out.

The July start is no longer. The plan to teach out was PRIOR to the July start. There is an agreed date with the department of education on what the projected close date will be AFTER teach out. That is the end of the March Mod. This gives enough time for ALL grads to complete their extern.

Meg was the Director of Admissions, and she met with you at least once if not twice prior to your enrollment. the last thing the DOA's did before leaving on their last day was call ALL future starts to tell them their classes will no longer be starting. The High School regional was here to do the same this with all the August-September starts.

June's start was the LAST start ever for Everest Bensalem.

Hi anonymous 20566. - do you mean that even if a student enrolled in June, if they haven't started their first class yet, then at a teach-out campus that means the student will be un-enrolled/dismissed? That's not how I thought the deal with DOE was written but I guess it makes sense.

This makes no sense. No wonder this student doesn't know what to do.

Ummm 20559, is something wrong with you? YES I do work at Bensalem, and YES students have been dismissed from their program. These were students who had just started ( IN JUNE )AND THEY'RE NOT ALLOWED ANY NEW STARTS! GET A CLUE IT'S OVER!

Ummm....20554, who are you? Do you work at Bensalem? Not starting new students - yes. Sending current students out the door - no. Shame on you for making stuff up rather than being helpful to a student that came here asking an honest question.

They have already cancelled existing classes and sent students out the door. They are not allowed to start any new students. What don't you understand!

You don't seem to understand. Bensalem is open until student coursework is completed. And let's say CCi files bankruptcy while you're still in school... The department of Ed will ensure you somehow still get the classes you need, most likely at a competitor school.

You really should talk to people at Bensalem again to make sure you understand.

I rather not start a school that has the potential to end at any moment

The school is planned remain open for teach-out, but that will only happen if CCi has enough cash to keep it open.

Go to Kaplan in Franklin Mills. It's a much better school!

If you are already enrolled, you can still go to school there - the school will remain open until you finish all of your coursework. Maybe Meg didn't clearly explain this. Call back and talk to her again or someone else.
