It takes tough skin, patience and a good heart to teach these students. In campus instructors have to do it all. Some times they come at us with the most horrible stories steming from their lives. They talk about how their parents were on drugs, mother was a prostitute, they were in jail, children with DCFS, they have no money until they get their LINK, boyfriend beats them up. Then, they need to be hand held to read, study and focus. We are not only teaching them the necessities to be a professional in their field but we try to show them basic life skills, and manners. Some don't know how to say please, thank you, excuse me. We teach them and with all this, we still need to keep inspired.
