Anonymous27442, e-mail is actually the best way to document your paper trail. Hard copies in files can get mysteriously lost during a trial.

Hum…whistleblowers are protected by law, and any documents they present to authorities is evidence. This sounds like scare tactics of a desperate organization that has secrets and misdeeds to hide…and not one that is on the up and up. As a matter of practice… if I feel that I am ask to do something that is not on the up and up… I make copies, memo my concerns to my direct report in writing and not by email, especial where students are concerned to cover my backside. Leave a paper trail a blind rat can follow. The other thing I did was to document any meeting(s) with a follow up memo with each point discussed in the meeting...take good notes. My fear was being sued, hung out to dry and not having the backing of the administration, and taking a hit for bad management.

Typical busybody HR people. Totally clueless yet drunk with power. In reality, if someone kept copies of emails and used them in a lawsuit against EDMC or AI there would be nothing they could do about it. You have to prove that you have been harmed and that the theft had value. People keep copies of things all the time that show up as evidence in court. That is how the game is played.

That's corporate power out of control, trying to scare people into signing something even after they are no longer in your employment? Ha,Ha, good luck with that.

So this a document that all employees have to sign? What locations has this happened at where you have to sign this document?

I haven't had one yet... So that's why I ask...

Yeah, that was a mandatory contract covering all kinds of stuff, from document security to disclosure. Like any of the other trainings and contracts, if it isn't signed your employment is terminated. EDMC is trying to plug up the leaks, obviously. I recall it being worded in such a way to threaten legal action even after someone has quit - IF you signed it. So if you sign it, you can talk trash all you want, but coming up with documents and emails etc would put you in breach of contract. As far as the desk - The computer, the emails, all work related correspondence and the furniture are EDMC property and they make that clear from the get go. Maybe they were just looking for loose change? :-)
