Thread regarding Corinthian Colleges Inc. layoffs

Why is the stock up so much?

From 14 cents to 19 cents in a day. It seems like the only thing that's changed is the announcement of criminal charges. Shouldn't that have the opposite effect? Is there a chance that something's leaked out to the investment community? If so, I'm thinking it must be a sale.

it's called "short covering" - don't worry, it will go lower.

Doesn't matter anyway. It's back down to 16 cents now, so it was just a momentary bump.

When stocks hit it's all time low into the penny stocks, people will buy and sell very quickly to make a buck.

665, absolutely right. And CCI isn't going to exist in 5 months, why bother. with a stock watch? Zero will be zero soon enough.

Speculators shorting the stock will cover when it drops again after the bankruptcy. Or if there is a sale and it rises the people. Who are long the stock make money. Zero bearing on whether we keep our jobs.

It's not exactly going to make anyone rich, so who cares? We're employees of CCI, not stock market analysts.
