Text books are NOT included in tuition. Its a separate line item on the enrollment agreement. Tuition is the charge for classes based on the number of hours taken; a tier. Books are not included in that line item charge.

Books are charged from Ambassador to CCI after the drop add period. If a student drops a class and does not return the book(s), the student has a book charge that hits their student ledger, which in turn, creates bad debt. Why? Because a student that doesn't have the where with all to return unused books, certainly isn't going to pay for them.

Most likely, they take them to an off campus book store and sell them for less that purchase price cash.

No credit, no books!

What's worse is for some courses, the textbook editions have changed, and because most students are incapable of using the table of contents, they claim they can't complete their readings even with the old editions. So it's an endless cycle of late work and excuses.

729, you think anyone cares about timely delivery?

The deal didn't include timely delivery? Oh, that's right, the important part is cash savings! So what if students don't get books right away.

Textbook vendors won't send them.

It's because we're broke. They aren't sending textbooks until after add/drop. In the email from Owens, he stated they had to make a deal with vendors, including publishers. They don't want to give textbooks for no $. Even thoygh they are 'included' in tuition.

This is nothing new. CCI has never had a workable process for getting textbooks to students on time. Never.
