Some current employees may be hesitant to speak, unless it's anonymous due to fear of retaliation from the workplace. There is a lot that can be said about what's going on and the frustration everyone is going through.

Morning Chris,

We are a small business that is effected by the poor and unprofessional response from CCI. They have owed us since October of 2013, without a single word. I would totally understand if this college fails. I would hope they treated students and staff with more professionalism than they did us. We will report the bad debt to the IRS and if they do file for bankruptcy, I will pursue payment. it may be best for the angry trolls to find another bridge to hide under.

I agree with the upper management post, Everest hasn't done anything worse than any other for profit school, except they haven't figured the correct way to get out of the hole like the others. They think its on the back of adjuncts and its not.

Chris, there is nothing new here that has not already been reported by the media. You do need to be careful with who you interact with since many of the posters are not current or former employees or students. We have heard everything that CCI has done wrong (much of which was incorrectly stated by the media or not proven), why don't you research and report the governments role in this mess, or maybe come up with some solutions.

554, I was given classes that never filled last term. Best thing that ever happened to me. I've got a new teaching job out of the for profit nonsense. It pays better, too. They did me a favor. The not teaching due to Outreach burned me out after less than 1 year at ECPO.

I left Everest 1 month ago, no more party line for me.

540, you didn't mention that many of our students are barely literate. There is no testing of any kind to know if students can handle a college workload. What's happening is that CCI is drowning from their own poisoned water. They recruit students with the promise of stipend money. These students have no intention of participating in classes. Then they throw them into a classroom when they can barely read and write and have so many personal problems, they can't focus on the present. (Think students living in shelters.) Suddenly they are our only source of income. So, while they know (leadership) these students will fail, they have to make them stay and pass so they can keep getting FA. It's a vicious cycle and highly educated professionals are getting shit on because we can't teach students who refuse to go to class. We spend our time endlessly calling and emails failing students. Students who aren't coming to class, and never were. It's a vicious cycle. And what does leadership do? Tell instructors if a student fails, it's all their fault. I taught for 20 years and have never seen a mess like this. I do my best. I refuse to change an F. They can fire me. I think that's probably imminent. But I will continue to sleep at night. I tried my best. I've not lied or committed a crime or seen one. But there's a stink in the air.

540, spoken like a true internal email. Remember that reporters don't have to tow the party line. And let's not forget the small matter of a criminal investigation. PS. They hire based on who will best tow the party line. Degrees have little to do with it.

Hope you find some info. I think a lot of people read these boards but don't post. You said you were reading through the boards so you know how mean everyone gets. But maybe someone will come to you, knowing they can share info without repercussions. Maybe someone can share with you that ECMC sale rumor? It's persistent. I don't want to wish people be without jobs, but that seems a disaster. A company that collects on defaulted student loans open a college? It makes me sick to think that could happen. It is literally a recipe for failure. And if it's true, the public deserves to know, because nobody should attend a college like that. It already costs upward of $30,000 - $40,000 to attend a CCI school. And the average earned income upon graduation cannot meet the needs to pay those loans back. So in comes an in house collection company? The culture of these for profits have to change so student education is at the center of the business model. To allow ECMC to buy CCI is to perpetuate this twisted way if making a buck. And to what end? So CEOs can make another million?

Dear newspaper editor:

There’s no real story here. Everest is collapsing due to false promises on a poor degree, bad admissions and pressuring instructors to pass people through. The recent requirement for instructors to start making “admissions” type calls to get students to participate and bring their grade up, is nothing more than a veiled way to force adjuncts to fake the grades. If we fake the grades, we waste less of our personal time and call less. The pressure to email and call is recent, it just started early this year and keeps racketing up, It is to retain, retain, retain, even if the student should not be retained. We all know that if we don’t make these worthless calls, bump fake grades, you will not get classes next quarter. It used to not be this way. I was thrilled years ago teaching here, the AD’s and PD’s didn’t care if you flunked someone who deserved it and you could encourage students in your own creative ways. You could truly work with students as it should be. A few bad professors and an increasing bad pool of students’ foretold the demise. The bad trail began when the pool of students decreased and Everest went after the real dregs of society that just want to rip off the government for more money. The students run about 70-30. 30% seem to try and want to do well, some are not previously equipped and need to be brought up to speed, and some could make it at any college. The other 70% are either fake, really shouldn’t be at any college or are just doing it for the money to live on. Everest signs anyone, even if they don’t even have computer skills enough to do the work. Everest gets paid, the student gets paid, the taxpayers get screwed .

The only answer is to reduce the “little chiefs” (PD’s are worthless) and the adjunct professor s, along with better screening in admissions. Shrink the school and make it streamline and demand quality education. Maybe a name change is in order. Stop hiring English, public administration, sociology, etc, etc., majors and only hire those doing the job. Too many PHD’s just for the sake of having them , regardless of what field it’s in. Doing the real job is what private schools have to offer, Everest needs to figure that out again and get back to the basics if they are going to survive. I used to work with many adjuncts that did the actual job. Now my PD has never done the actual field I teach in, most adjuncts have crazy degrees and never did the work. Doing the real work in real life is way more important that the degree and whether it’s a PHD or ?

Chris- I hope someone writes to you. Last time it was two different reporters, and the story came out a few days later. I wish I had something newsworthy to discuss.

It's pretty simple. If you have something to share with the reporter, contact him (her?). He's not going to write a story based only on what is posted here. Seems obvious......

Thanks, 526. I'm weeding through the sake and toner troll jokes, too, and, along with a lot of other people, and am seeking real answers. To 529: I have never posted a rumor to this board or anywhere else and don't post anonymously. --C. Staiti

When was the last time anyone posted any worthwhile permission? As soon as somebody does, everyone starts bullying. And a reporter can't just post rumors on a discussion board. It needs to be proven. This board is a total joke. I've been reading it since July. There's been NO information. Nobody knows anything who is here. Not any information.

Hi Chris, Ignore 36523. There have been a few trolls who seem to also post on ITT's and other layoff.com boards, but a lot of good discussion. Over the weekend there was a troll posting a dozen or more nonsense posts to be cute. They're the one-liners with no replies. Just skip past them and you'll get to some real discussions with actual employees.
