Thread regarding Corinthian Colleges Inc. layoffs

I went to a college fair this weekend. I spoke with admissions representatives from the competition.

According to the reps I spoke with, many former Everest students are enrolling and attending at the competition. The sad thing, at least from my perspective, is that these reps are likely being told what a great job they are doing enrolling so many students, yet it has little to do with their skill, and much more to do with the collapse of CCi. At the same time, the education department at Everest is getting hammered for losing those students, and that's not to mention Everest admissions is getting beat up for not enrolling sufficient new students. Maybe a week away from the place is not such a bad thing, until that tiny paycheck comes.

Anonymous36655- Certainly not all the schools sought the Everest students, but there were a couple that target essentially the same market. Anthem is gone now, but Anthem would have been more than happy to enroll any Everest student, for example.

It surprises me some colleges are actively seeking CCI students. Yes, there are some very smart, more than capable students. But, in general, that's not the case. Students with no desire to be in school other than to collect a stipend are not really desirable by other colleges, even for profits. Everest, in particular, has a terrible reputation amongst other for profits and has for a long time.

Anonymous36620 - That makes MUCH more sense, thanks. I would really struggle to imagine a "college" with lower standards than us. Heck, we have PMs who fail to grasp 3rd grade math & language concepts.

Itt has MUCH higher standards. It is not a diploma mill like ALL Cci schools.

Lower academic standards than logging in at least every 14 days? Tough to believe.

Anonymous36607 - So, you're saying that ITT has even lower academic standards than CCi, or was that just very badly worded?

I taught at ITT. I would say that at least 50% of my students could not handle the workload of Everest. Our curriculum is a joke.

They probably weren't even good admissions reps. Did they even bother to tell you that you'd get a free laptop and bus pass, and a big fat check in your pocket from Uncle Sam every term? Did they explain how easy it is, that the hardest thing involved in getting an education is to take a tour of the school? Thought not. Maybe our soon to be unemployed admissions reps can join them and teach them how it's done.
