Anyone have anything planned for Constitution Day?

I started a new job in July, and was just assigned the task of getting documentation of tomorrow's Constitution Day activities for our records. Apparently, any school that does not have special activities planned for September 17th is no longer eligible to receive financial aid. This is the first I've heard of it, and don't remember ever having anything at our Everest campus (Brandon). Do the rest of you have these events, or has CCI just ignored this requirement as well? I'm constantly amazed now that I work for a real college just how much SFS let slip through.

Anonymous36972 - LMAO! I do believe that she's a Household Betty who just has to work part-time to help pay the bills. She certainly doesn't have the manner of a professional woman.

36971 - um, no. Just pointed out that you've had an unimpressive employment history AFTER you called me a troll and used the F-word. You're just not a very pleasant person, are you? Do you have any awareness that the reason everyone seems to be mean to you is because of your personality? Do you never pick up on the fact that people are hinting that you should leave?

968, I really don't care if you believe me it not. And yeah, I do get defensive when bully dicks who don't know me put me down for NO reason. None. Listen. Believe me or not. It's my life. I could care less about yours. And judging from the bully jerks in this board lately, you clearly don't care about ours. Even Steven. Now. I must go. Shopping and all.

Anonymous36958 -Oh, well then, an adjunct instructor. I am VERY impressed now! Sorry I was so disrespectful. You are obviously in a much higher social echelon than a lowly manager. I've got two master's degrees, but I'm sure you've got doctorates, right? Adjuncting at Everest...surely that's a clear sign your life hasn't gone well. No?

And hey, don't worry about my employment. My husband makes bank, so whether I work or not is unimportant. Gas money for the boat, jerk.

950, whatever. You guys are such losers on this board. No wonder everyone else left. Bully all you want. I have got better things to do than have a discussion with idiots. Have a great constitution day, dick.

953, f*** you. I'm an adjunct instructor. That's how we work - multiple schools at once. But go ahead and be a douche. I've got jobs to keep me busy when CCI closes. You?!?

36947: Wow - 8 employers in 20 years! Not a great record in terms of longevity. I'm not trying to be mean, but maybe the reason you never heard about Constitution Day is related to your short periods of employment. Head in the clouds much?

I also teach at AMU and we have been required to do this. Usually it is posting something g on the discussion boards and providing links to articles onot the US Constitution.

I've worked at 6 not for profits and 2 for profits over 20 years. Never heard of such a thing. So you are obviously f***ing with us. Although I find it impossible to believe DOE is forcing any college to spend money to celebrate only a US holiday, given the number of foreign students in this country. And without protest. So go away troll. Your presence is not needed here.

Anonymous36939 - it's a very loose requirement, and I think a reasonably constructed email about the constitution would suffice. The point is, you have to do SOMETHING. And document that you did it. It's probably a moot point at this juncture, but ED can make that a significant finding if it chooses to. Generally they would add it to other little findings to make a case that an institution lacks administrative capacity to properly participate in the Title IV programs.

Heald College has implemented constitution day since the requirement was first issued (2005?). Colleges appear to approach this with varying degrees of sincerity; for example, UC Berkeley simply sent out an email about the constitution to all students. I don't think this is monitored much.

Anonymous36930: eventually, you just look up at the 1984-style posters, swallow your ethics and pride, and just rubber stamp everything through. It was so depressing there. I'm grateful every day that I got out - how do like that, weird "mood elevator" poster??? I'm finally grateful!

36926 - LOL! I had a hard time "getting it" when I first started working verification at SFS. I cannot tell you how many times I heard that phrase! Eventually, they just decided I was naturally too picky (conscientious?) and moved me to another area.

Real college: "Instructors may reduce your grade for lack of attendance or participation and it is their option whether to let you make up exams or turn work in late." CCi: "Just log in once every 14 days so we....er, so you can keep your moneys! We'll take care of that grumpy teacher if he forgets his place and inconveniences you with silly subject matter nonsense!"

I'm in the same situation as you OP, got a new job at a public a few months ago. Here's the difference between CCi and a real college: "I am independent cuz I have a dependent who's my nephew but not by blood and I made no income and didn't have benefits and don't even have a dollar to my name." Real College: "We're going to need to collect some more documentation to show that you really do have a dependent and to explain how you lived." CCI: "Congratulations - you get the maximum Pell grant! We would never question anything on your FAFSA because WE DON'T CALL OUR STUDENTS LIARS!"
