Thread regarding Corinthian Colleges Inc. layoffs

Please Explain. This is for Chris the reporter inquiring about CCI.

(repost due to CCi goon trolls) Please investigate if the DOE approved CCI to spend Title IV fund money on Socle Education. They are still spending money on business trips and conferences and are still hiring employees. Think they can do that with money they earn from their clients. Nope. They don't make enough. And the few clients they have they practically paid them to sign them on they were so desperate to get clients. Socle Education has a pitiful two or three clients that can't support their operations. CCI has been funding this start up for quite sometime because it is NOT a separate company yet and it can't survive without CCI money. Where does CCI get it's money these days? From Title IV funds, and cutting pay and benefits for employees. the Client and student portal which is what they have been heavily spending money on is an applciation that they are selling to other institutions to manage Financial Aid and Document tracking in a Student and Client Portal. Not to mention it works like crap. There are other parts that they are tyring to now say is part of Socle, but in fact the main thing they are selling to other colleges is the Financial Aid Student and Client Portals. Center Point. Not only this, but the Socle employees have been exempt from the 50 pct pay cut and furlough. Every time there is something posted on this subject. Someone (probably a CCI hired troll) posts stupid comments or posts to try to push the post down or divert attention away from it. Well try that if you want to, but I will re-post it. They don't want you to know that the very institution that is in so much trouble with just about every agency in the state and federal government is helping other institutions with their Financial Aid and document tracking issues.

I'll explain what Socle does. Student Financial Services (SFS) was started in 2009 as a centralized internal financial aid processing center. At the same time, CCi was about to be cut off from federal financial aid due to our default rates. A new department was formed under Kim Dean, the VP of SFS, to "manage" default rates. Articles have been written about how unethical we were in getting our rates down. Basically, when a student has a federal loan, there are several options available to help them stay in good standing. There are various payment plans that allow them to pay less in the beginning, based on the fact that many people start out their careers at lower wages. When a student chooses that option, they pay more in the end. There are also deferments, which allow the student to not make payments for a period of time and have the interest not accrue and get capitalized. Some deferment reasons are unemployment, underemployment, temporary disability, and financial hardship. Then each loan has a couple of years of "forbearance" which doesn't require a specific situation but does have interest accrue. CCi pushes all late payers into forbearance immediately. The student uses up their lifetime allotment of forbearance, interest has accrued on their loan that wouldn't have, but CCi has postponed their default so it hits after the cohort period that is tracked. In 2013, SFS became Socle and are aggressively selling our default management services to other colleges. I guarantee they don't realize that we are infamous for how we deal with this very area. ED will end it before long. Socle doesn't have a future. Sorry you guys had to take furlough when none of us did (a few IT in SA). In the end, we're going down too./ I'll try to keep this short, whether Socle survives or not; it still sucks. We know what the deal is and that the ship is sinking. Upper management knew about the attendance being falsified (ask any rep doing drops), but they look away. 90-10, not smooth; talk to anyone doing disbursement cleanup about being told to skip certain campuses. But since our newly promoted VP thinks trained monkeys can do our work, we just nod and smile as we call in sick to go to interviews. Let's keep paying this management team!/ 38124 - I know, DS is the worst manager EVER! He knows nothing and basically does nothing. I'm honestly starting to think he sleeps with KD (altogether now....eeeeewwww!!). How else would he keep getting promoted, unless he's got shit on someone and blackmailing them? Not that the rest of the leadership are at all impressive. MH is a bumbling idiot, and don't even get me started on TP!

Thank you for posting this and please continue to post it. People are so misled about Socle and who we are. We did not receive a pay cut, nor did we receive any furlough. When the voluntary unpaid days off was first requested last month we were asked to participate, but we were officially told today that we could no longer take any unpaid time even if we wanted to. Has anyone in Co Springs noticed that Socle is now occupying another aisle? Those are the new hires that just came out of training. We are hiring 40 MORE new reps. Does anyone know why CCi has decided there is money for 3 new supervisors and 50 new reps? These reps are calling ex students who are in default on their loans. They are literally doing ANYTHING to get them out of default. Every student gets brought current for no reason, just out of the goodness of our hearts. Many are also put into forbearance so it will be 6 months to a year before they end up in default again. Some who are employed are given monthly payments of $5-$10 for 25 years! I literally heard that offer comes out of a reps mouth when I walked by. With accruing interest they will be in debt until they die! So why? Why all the fuss over these ex students? Because of the bad press and investigations into CCi's infamous default rates maybe? If they can push their rate down to a normal level then they can put out another bs press release about how wrong the DOE is and how their students are successful and not in debt at all. 50 new employees just to pull off another lie. How are all you furloughed employees feeling now?/ I am Socle and I am missing 10% of my salary so that is BS. Socle IT were furloughed just like the others. Send an e-mail to Valerie Smith the project manager for Socle and read her auto reply.

The company is my in trouble for FA issue d but rather document issues SOCLE does not control. Also, SOCLE employees are not exempt~ many have already scheduled their 5 unpaid days.. please don't generalize about SOCLE without the facts. We are people too who have your same concerns/You know if CCI thinks SOCLE is so Golden then sell it and let the company that buys it build it up. You can't afford to fund a start up business right now. Especially if you can't afford to pay your freaking employees or buy books for students or pay the rent on the building your headquarters is in which buy the way is also where Socle is also housed. They use the same email system that we do. They use the same break rooms as we do. They attend the same town hall meetings that we do.There is not a CEO for specifically for SOCLE. It's Jack, just like CCI. Everything that has affected us has affected them except for this 50 pct pay cut, because they want to hire on these so called new clients they think they are getting and they can't afford for anymore people to quit. They only have a few IT support people left to help them roll out these clients./ There are some Socle employees that ARE exempt from the 50 pct paycut and some employees that support Socle./ The Socle employees that are considered essential personnel were in fact exempt. The ones who probably are expendable like you 37926 who they probably would not miss were put on the furlough./ If you don't believe us... Why don't you ask Jack or someone from upper management or HR why some SOCLE employees were exempt from the furlough/50 pct pay cut and see what they say. They will either lie, avoid the question or you will shame them into telling you the truth./ This only proves that SOCLE and CCI are the same company. Thank you for responding. Now everyone knows where Socle gets it's funds from./ Can we get security for our campuses first. The campuses that you strategically place in under privileged and unsafe areas. How much money have you spent on this start -up to date? I don't even think I want to know. It would probably make me sick to my stomach. It would be nice it the CPAT and Student doc center worked properly. They changed the name to Center point and tried to pass it off to unsuspecting colleges. What a freaking joke. My kid could have done a better job than this.
