Thread regarding Corinthian Colleges Inc. layoffs

This board is the only resource for instructors

I have actually learned more information I need to decide to look for another job and what to except from this board than anything the school has put out. I agree there is a lot of crap here, but there's a lot of employees in the know passing good information. Makes me not feel so alone in what I feel and see in my classes. The PD's and Ad's are worthless, you never know how you stand in relation to other instructors and what they are experiencing.

So crap aside, this is a very worthwhile board and I hope employees continue to post, I figure I will find out when the pay stops here first.

Last night was terrible. In general it's gotten quite bad in here. I think it's all the media attention bringing the trolls in. The Layoff is one if the first hits if you Google Corinthian Colleges. So that's a lot of it. And I think the trolls actually post to other boards, too. I've been to Everest, Heald and ITT and troll comments are much the same. I am going to keep checking here, mostly because it's a habit if nothing else. But I've learned not to expect any useful info.

How do you know that any of the comments posted here are valid? Please exercise some common sense, unless you are one of those people who sends money every time you get an email from a Nigerian prince.

Don't give up because the "trolls" (management) comments on your posts. If you do, they win. Just ignore the idiots and the rest of us can decipher the truth out. The trolls are obvious and self serving, I don't really consider them human, just kool aid drinkers. I pay no attention to them. They are immaterial to my life and worthless.

I am a full time employee and have posted reliable information on here but as of last night when the trolls took over I am finished posting any true information here. I wish all other employees the best in what ever you do.

I know you are a current adjunct like I am, because I have the same experience. 9 years and numerous bosses, never more than a quick eval (who knows if its below or above average), once in awhile a quick email exchange. Many times my bosses just ignore my email questions (read: most of the time) so I just do basically what I want. It just seems wrong. Now the only email I ever not delete is the one that wants more outreach. I ignore those too now.

As an online instructor, I know nobody in my college. I have contact with less than 10 employees, none of whom I've had even a minor personal conversation with. Coming here has been eye opening and sickening. I wish I had never found it. It has tainted my feelings towards my school and students.
