Thread regarding Corinthian Colleges Inc. layoffs

How much a company should pay for severance?

What's your opinion about this severance questions. I am not referring to CCI, it's a general question. I do not expect anything from CCI once they close us down, but in general, I would like to know what's typical.

This won't have any significance to CCi layoffs, but the standard I've always seen is one to two weeks for every year of service.

To the OP: I guess it depends on how long someone has been with a company, and what their professional credentials were. This of course assumes that the corporation feels employees are entitled to severance. At the very least employees should receive any remaining compensation that is due (I know... like that is very likely in this instance). 401k's and such are generally protected, provided of course the employees are fully vested in the plan which is most likely the case if someone has been with the company 5-7 years in general.
