Thread regarding Corinthian Colleges Inc. layoffs

This is a comment from a post below that you really need to read (Fitzgerald -- where are you?)

Socle is not self-sufficient by any means. We have now been accused of financial aid fraud, which is the area that Socle directly oversees. Add to that the fact that we are under severe budgetary restrictions and have been taking pay cuts, unpaid leave, and doing without basic necessities in doing our jobs. Our student population has gone down tremendously, so Socle's workload should have gone down alongside ours. AND we have a federal monitor who is supposed to be watching how CCI spends our Title IV funds, which are almost our only source of revenue. So how is it that Socle have not experienced any cutbacks, and are hiring like gangbusters? Someone is not watching over this chunk of the business, and they should be. Employees and students should not be suffering while the execs siphon off Title IV money to fund their golden parachute scheme.

Oh and another thing. Those of you taking cheap potshots at KD? She happens to be the one who's going to save this company, or at least the ones of you worth saving. You should be more grateful.

LOL! I love coming to this board and seeing all the CCI employees taking cheap potshots at SOCLE! Jealous much? The reason we don't have cost cutting or furloughs is because we are not the same company and DOE has no interest in how we run our affairs. You people are pathetic. Good luck getting new jobs while we don't have to worry!

It's been going around CSC that one potential sale unraveled because the buyers balked at having to sign up for a "servicing" agreement (I'm thinking Socle services). What surprised me was that we were even allowed to offer that. Does ED honestly not know this is going on? I know Fitzgerald's scope of responsibility is limited, but it seems to clearly include approving the terms of any sale. Is someone being paid off?
