I haven't dropped a hint to my advisor; I didn't want her to drop or harass me. I only have 2 terms left for my Bachelors and I have a 4.0 gpa. I have started the transfer process to WGU. If there are a lot of other students like me, the start numbers for October term are going to be even lower than they predict.

40420, Florida regionally accredited traditional universities absolutely will NOT accept credits simply based on the course having a common code. They will view the course catalog, the course syllabus, the length of the course and make a determination. I know for a fact they they will NOT accept credits from Everest or schools like it. They will not accept a lot of credits from many of the for profits or other schools with short classes. The same is true for many of the non-profits.
ok bye

WGU is a good college. Soooooo....why didn't you go there in the FIRST PLACE? Also, they have much higher expectations so you had better get ready to do some real work. I knew dozens of Everest students with a high GPA who transferred to other colleges. They couldn't handle the work at those places so they transferred back to Everest where they would get good grades for their low-level effort.
OP here... I understand that I may have to repeat some work but I'm not terribly worried about that. I graduated from Univ of Cali Santa Cruz back in the 90s. Like many others caught in the recession I needed to make a career change and I decided to do online as I'm now a parent. By getting a job at CCi I planned to get my degree with no debt and then quit the job as soon as I graduated. Mind you back when I started Everest seemed like a perfectly decent school. It was a perfect plan... until it wasn't.
Anonymous40420: Hmmm, I'm sure you mean well, but please be careful that you don't mislead people. Everest credits do not typically transfer to state schools, or even many regionally accredited for-profit schools like Nova Southeastern: http://www.floridatoday.com/story/news/local/2014/07/10/concerns-mount-transfers-everest-university-students/12510529/
There is a thing known as 'common course coding' in Florida for degree programs, Everest credits match up with state schools so (as an Intro to sociology created example) our SOC 100=state school X SGY111=state school Y SOL125, etc, etc...they WILL be accepted...get a common course matrix/ rubric from the registrar or dean....Also, I had some great students, although as the last few years went by they were less and less...I had about 20% who could have gone to grad school, no joke...that's however when the school was for returning adults
WGU isn't that picky. They specify "regionally OR nationally accredited" in their transfer requirements: http://www.wgu.edu/admissions/transferring_credits_faq. Chances are that they will accept most EUO credits (or any credits really).
OP -- Don't take this the wrong way, but a 4.0 GPA from Everest isn't going to impress many people. You're right to get out, but be prepared for a level of academic rigor you're not used to. Not having to study to pass EUO isn't an indication that you're brilliant.
Anonymous40354 -- I'm absolutely not saying stay with Everest! Just make sure that you know what you're getting into with WGU. have they already agreed to accept your credits? If not, considering you're so close to your degree, it might be a better idea to go to a (nationally accredited) competitor that will accept the credits. More expensive, but you're put a lot of time into this. Some of them aren't nearly as sleazy as CCi. Trust me, I've worked for 4 major proprietary chains. My current one is all regional accreditation, but others aren't so bad. If you want to find a regionally accredied school, your best bet is still a for-profit. They tend to accept more credits.
OP here... as an employee I haven't paid for the credits I've gotten ($100 per class hardly counts). With no debt I'd rather get out now. I get the feeling the commenters who are trying to tell me to stay with Everest are really just management freaking out. WGU is regionally accredited and I spoke to some current students and instructors. What I do know is that if I stay with Everest I'll just waste my time; they'll shut down or go bankrupt and I'm stuck going somewhere and losing half my credits anyway. So why not just go now and start on a successful path instead of a failing one?
OP -- if you're really a student and not a troll, do some due diligence. Most regionally accredited colleges will not take many, or any nationally accredited credits. Once you have your BA, it's different. Many of them will accept the BA toward a master's degree, which is what I did.
Is this a first? A student posting on the Layoff site? Scroll down OP, if you are really a student you need to know how CCi talks about you when they are anonymous.
WGU is NOT a pretend school. It is Western Governers' University, which is an online venture of several state colleges. They are regionally accredited.
WGU is a pretend school too. Try to make better choices.
Very foolish to leave that close to the end of your program. I know CCI isn't the best school, but the loss of time and money. You'll lose about 40% of your credits. I used to work for WGU.
We are very curious about what credits WGU (Western Governor's Univ?) will accept. Most of us (CCI staff) believe that few or zero credits will transfer
