What is funny that beginning next quarter instructors will have a section of the review based on student retention. What a joke...review our performance on something we have very little to no control over.
If the majority of the students enrolled cared about their future or education, they'd be participating. Don't think they do, though.
Get the feeling that a number of people figured out how to squeeze a bit more out of their government cheese. Then they told their friends. Then the degrees were devalued, but the company was making too much to do anything to try and stop it.
Now, there's little more than cheese takers left.
If they want it so much, have them do it. Instructors spend way too much time emailing and calling these baffoons. When they actually reach the one out of a hundred, the instructors get cursed at. Then they also get blamed by upper management for retention that they have no control over.
I really don't think they're as stupid as all this. I think it's more about getting paid and having documentation that shows they kept trying, but the students weren't holding up their end.
