Thread regarding Corinthian Colleges Inc. layoffs

Sale of CCi.

Many of you have patiently waiting for news on the sale of CCi. Their are many things to be concerned with the sale of this company. First eliminating staff and students and teach out sell the buildings equipment, or sell programs buildings staff etc.. Here are a list of most things to worry about. 1). Brand name CCi has the most tainted reputation in the business now, the worst P.R. ever will this attract buyers? 2). Multiple legal issues that need to be resolved first from multiple states AG and DOE will most likely be settled with fines. 3). Thirty million dollars must go into a fund for students for refunds on tuition. 4). Share holders and investors will want there cut first from the sale stock presently is at .17 cents. 5). Who ever takes the leap of faith and buys this train wreck will not keep CCi folks very long getting paid $40,000 dollars a year or more in positions that are more closely to $30,000-$35,000. 6). CCi student base. What student base, dropping like flies, very high risk, why would another for profit school take on that risk, not a steady income goes against their placement rates, graduation rates and default rates. 7). Jack M and friends will have a wonderful "golden parachutes" not the employees.

Bottom line. The sale of this company at best is going to be bad. It will be a "fire sale" and hard working staff, employees, and students will suffer the most!

What are your thoughts!

Yes -- RIFs, layoffs, etc. Inevitable.

What is next is a 100% pay cut for a lot of us.

Debbie Downer, that coincides with the end of the 10 week, 10% paycut.

Sorry you guys. If you think we are going to make it 4 or 5 months, I think you are way off. Senior leadership and some semblance of an operational skeleton crew will ride the ship until the end, but many of us will face layoffs. I'm referring to Everest, not Heald or Wyotech, since I don't work for them. Timing probably end of Summer term. Week 0 is the week of October 6-10. I foresee it happening then, if not sooner.

28860 - I think the writing is on the wall, and I'm surprised that many people still don't get it. I know for a fact I have co-workers not actively seeking a new job. Meanwhile, management have been changing their habits (like clothes - you can tell when it's a job interview day), taking lots of time off, changing their LinkedIn profiles, avoiding us, etc. Open your eyes and pay attention. They KNOW it won't be good. They do not want you out there competing for the same jobs as them (in many cases you're better qualified). GET OUT THERE! What, do I need our ghetto ad guy to show up at your house and yell at you?

This needs to be updated: "I think the biggest worry should be that we are all out of jobs in 5 months' time." Fixed: "I think the biggest worry should be that we are all out of jobs in 4 months' time."

It could be worse, you could be employed by CCI and live in Ferguson, MO.......

I would not be worrying about the school. It's your own futures you need to concern yourself with. Leadership is likely getting bonuses to stay on and feed you full of lies until they don't need you anymore. It they're getting out now. Don't trust them. Your best bet is to stop waiting and start looking. Take your unpaid days off to interview. Don't take a chance that there will be severance money when they fold in a few months.

I think the biggest worry should be that we are all out of jobs in 5 months' time. There will likely be NO sale. And if there is, it will not be to a college. They might sell IT or debt. But CCI will not be sold and rebranded. It cannot. The 'sale' intent is to sell to another school or schools. That's what they've stated publicly. There IS no future for CCI. There never was after the announcement in June. It's close or sell. Either way, we are mostly all out if jobs.
