Rumor?

Just heard Read, Caldwell, Tracy Jacobs and Gavlic are meeting to discuss the future. Has anybody heard this rumor? What do you all think of that group?

They really need to trim the fat at the top. Do they really need a Dean of student affairs at every school? You already have the instructor, advisers, and department heads, as well as a president. That is one huge middle management salary that could go. It would also put the president of each school more in touch with what is happening on the ground. Those schools are very small, they are trying to run them like mega-university.

29510: I think onground Ai got rid of local directors of some sort and replaced them with regional - sorry I don't have specifics, and this was a while back - and in PS wasn't foundations absorbed into Interior Design? Advisers got replaced by automated management systems. I think Ai ignored the PA requirement for FT to student ratios - Not sure how that panned out. I mean, if any of you ran a business and it was losing money you'd look around and find ways to streamline. Increase course loads by streamlining curriculum. Increase manager to report loads. Automate reviews. You have to kind of look around and ask 'is this person really necessary or can I replace him with software or add his position to someone else's with a different job description'? It's a tricky path though. For example, to not pay insurance Ai chopped experienced instructor loads and brought in poor instructors. That had a backlash of poor student experience, poor morale, more work for management dealing with classroom issues. But I bet it saved enough money to make all that worthwhile in the end. I do think departments can be integrated, and overhead cut but accreditation issues are always in the background. You don't want to say, integrate Interior Design with Kitchen And Bath and then discover you've lost accreditation because of some loophole. Funny though - Almost all of the questionable cost cutting measures came right after AI got accredited for 10 years.

Speaking of cutting directors, two teams recently merged at the Phoenix center and I'm wondering what's next. Last month I heard that directors were being cut in such a way that they had to reapply for their current jobs and only one would be chosen for the position. Word went out about who was chosen and yet I still see the other individuals working here, not sure how that is considered a "cut." Seems like management is always protected, I would expect cuts for the processors and counselor positions.

Teachers can unionize - two campuses have unions. Cuts are made across the board. Management is combined - for example does each dept need a director? Things like that. Keep in mind that they need to tread carefully axing teachers because of accreditation requirements, full time to student body ratios. But course caps have already increased to 20. Poor performing adjuncts were brought in to cover...there are all kinds of management and money saving strategies yet to be implemented.

Teachers will be the first to cut silly. They have no real voice, they can't unionize because we are private and no tenure to deal with either. How else are we going to keep upper management bonuses.

They were all seen in the "fish bowl" but seriously step one of the business plan has been put into play(401k); what do you think is honestly next!?! More employee cuts and I'm certain it wont start at the top. ..
