Thread regarding Corinthian Colleges Inc. layoffs

So Remington is going to "buy" all or part of CCi, yet it advertises to NOT apply if you work for a for-profit school?

Crazy.

Keiser University changed from for-profit to non-profit (to avoid 90/10 issues or something,) stated the same thing regarding prospective employees that had previously worked at a for-profit school need not apply, my niece went to work for Keiser as admissions rep and they actually told the group of prospective new hires that if they had worked at for-profit they could leave now, niece was employed there two years and they are just as bad as CCI in all respects

564 your misunderstanding of educational business models should be enough to keep you off this less than informative site. There is always someone at the top making more money than the worker bees. The publicly traded aspect is a big attack point by the Feds with CCI and ITT. ALL SCHOOLS NEED TO MAKE MONEY OR THEY WILL GO OUT OF BUSINESS, period! I can't speak for 550, but I am sure the angle of funding allocations is what he/she posted about. The money comes in and goes somewhere and it will, if you follow the money trail, always lead to the top "head honchos".

Heald was for-profit until 2007. All the extra money was farmed back to the school (LRC, equipment, etc.). The problem was it wasn't making enough money to sustain itself, much less put more into the system.

All state schools - colleges and university's are non profit, as are most private colleges. What's your point, 550. Of course a non profit wants to make money. But there aren't head honchos on the top floor making all the money. You're really an idiot and don't understand the difference.

Yes. They'll buy the school and dump all departments (or all) that won't be useful to them. It'll be their school. They can employ whoever they want. Duh!

They can change their policy once the acquisition occurs.

The job posting states it very clearly that if you have experience working in admission at a for profit, that you should not apply. That being said, I love the fact that Remington College can be a non-profit school group, yet make money (if they don't make a profit, can they remain in business?)...smoke and mirrors my friends, smoke and mirrors!
