Thread regarding Follett layoffs

Huddle

My manager went through the huddle on Friday. The Follett brand. ML's number one goal is to make Follett a household name.

Thought goals were supposed to be S.M.A.R.T.

Wonder how you measure if that goal was reached or not? Many companies focus on the customer, and the brand takes care of itself. Read each of Amazons letters to shareholders and you won't find a goal like this. You will see provide lower lower cost to customers, provide better selection, shorter delivery etc. You will also see them mention focus on what is best for the customer in the long term even if it negatively impacts profit in the short run.

Amazon is the way to go. Follett stil has no clue. Men's socks please there is not one dam non imprinted item for men. Dummies! Don't bother at this point. Nobody comes in the store anymore anyway. Free Shipping from Amazon.

Hey, we were just in the news.....http://www.digitalbookworld.com/2014/amazon-expands-campus-bookstore-program-launches-at-purdue/.....Students can lower their textbook costs now that Amazon was brought in to provide an alternative the FOLLETT bookstore.

Follett a household name? Follett doesn't even come up when searching for books because they want to keep students locked in to get their financial aid. Book articles are mentioning B&N and Baker & Taylor now not Follett. What kind of marketing strategy are they thinking you can't have it both ways. It just seems these folks came out of a class and throw around popular "words" with no idea how to make it happen. Maybe they are thinking they can have a household name in one of the countries where they are outsourcing everything to, it won't happen in the states.
