Thread regarding Follett layoffs

Tired of shipping my inventory to other stores

I don't have the labor to fulfill inventory for other stores since the last layoffs. Inventory management/allocation has to be the worse then in any other year. Why is OMS sending so many orders for other stores to my store? Please Stop! I really have to wonder if anyone at the home office has worked in a retail college bookstore before. I had hopes when JH went to the home office, but no such luck.

What a great program! The stocking store carries the cost of inventory while the "selling" store gets the credit and the revenue! The adoptions won by the stocking store are thrown out the window in favor of those locations that failed to correctly stock.

Hey, they listened. They stopped OMS to my store.

"So far, it appears Follett has made only slight changes at the Wildcat Store, things that likely will not concern students. However, some people warn that such a change in management serves as a harbinger for a gradual shift away from a store that prioritizes the students and campus to one that puts profits first."

Follett is offering the campus bookstore a robust rental program: The title count for rentals at the bookstore has doubled, and e-books also will be provided for rental and purchase for certain courses, Foisy said. This is one of the ways Follett can offer students lower textbook prices.

Follett also can pull from its large inventory of new and used textbooks available for rent or purchase. If a book isn’t in stock at the Wildcat Store, students can order online and have it shipped from one of Follett’s many other college-managed stores, Foisy said. This also comes in handy when students want to sell back their textbooks—if the Wildcat Store doesn’t need the book, Follett can try to sell it to one of its other campus stores.

They killed it after seeing the mess it was creating in the 20% of stores outside of rush. How they didn't realize ahead of time that the early stores were going to get killed from OMS I don't know but thats the clueless leadership at work. 0 pick is a wonderful thing when they bombard stores with OMS and we don't have time for it. Now time to reduce the available inventory on my hot OMS titles before next Thursday so they don't even come to me. :D

We just cancel the order when we don't have time and say it is not in stock.
