Thread regarding Corinthian Colleges Inc. layoffs

There is life after for-profit education......

If your role at CCI is something other than instructor, you might think about what your skillset would allow you to do outside of education. Admissions, Account Reps and on-line Employer Developers are good candidates for sales. Career coaches can look at staffing/recruiting. FA can look at loan servicing/mortgage industry. Sit down with someone (CCI Career Coach?) and take inventory of your transferable skills. The obvious point is that the entire for-profit industry is very depressed, and opportunities are few and far between. In some cases, staying in the indutry means you are jumping out of the frying pan into the fire....

There's alot of opportunities for instructors post instructing. Most of the jobs I've worked have been outside education, have been high paying, and have been a direct result of my degrees. I only became an instructor because I have small children at home. This is NOT my career. A part time adjunct job gets me out of the house. It most certainly doesn't pay my bills.

A CCI Career Coach? Surely you are freaking kidding! So they can train you to not answer phones, ignore students and fake numbers? Career Services (or an utter lack thereof) are part of the reason we are in this mess.

I thought CCi was a life sentence, not life after prison. Wait, what was that?
