Thread regarding Corinthian Colleges Inc. layoffs

I started looking for a job in June and haven't heard back from most places yet. If you haven't started looking, yesterday would be a great time

It could be crisis time now for this company.

I was RIFed in Feb and just found a job in June. I think that's fairly common and probably better than most experience right now. At this point, I urge you to expand the range of positions you apply for and to take the job search very, very seriously. If you haven't started looking yet, go to youtube and watch our hood rat ad, cuz you need a kick in the butt at this point.

44 I agree with your statements. This is why I left cci in 2008 and went to another outfit-also proprietary. I did leave cci based on what I saw there and based on the fact that I did not want to end up on eitheir national news, or in jail. I know that many cci people are well-meaning and hard working, but the CP and RVP were not. Anyhow, right now, just like many others I want to leave proprietary ed, but am having no luck, as mentioned in my post.

I've got one semester in this hell hole. The rest of my work history is exemplar. I'm not the least bit worried, since I am probably going out of education anyway. But, the process is slow. (I started looking in July.) And if they ask about my employment with cci, I'll say I made a mistake.

"with 20 plus years as the compliance guru and DOE, have received ONE rejection letter, and then...nothing else from anyone. I guess too many years in proprietary ed is a scar/curse from which one cannot recuperate"

Don't take this the wrong way, this is just some perspective from a 3rd party that doesn't know you personally, but you have to consider that if you're a "compliance guru" for a college/company that was GROSSLY out of compliance to the point it goes under... that's going to leave a strong stigma on you as an applicant to other colleges.

I'm qualified. I'm waiting for one offer now and have heard back from several places. I'll find something. My point is that it takes TIME. Lots of it, to find a job. It won't happen overnight. And if there's no severance, that's even more troublesome.

Maybe you are not qualified.

Don't feel bad. I have had a ton of rejection letters. I've applied for at least 100 jobs. Right now is not a good time to find a job in education.

I'm in the same boat. It seems fewer and fewer call backs as the bad PR spreads. Wishing everyone luck even though I have a feeling I'm going to be competing with you guys for the few available jobs.
