Layoffs today ro what?

Though I suppose if they DID give you more money to take the VSO.. that COULD be worth it as you would get a little bit more time to go to interviews, assuming you have put your resume out there. I'll tell you, the job market is suck, and to have a week's worth of head-start may make all the difference. Then again, the other companies know that more zombies are coming, likely from an influx of resumes, so you may just lose on the paid vacation days etc... and you may even avoid the axe itself. It's a mystery, and it sucks for all involved.
Good luck to all!!!

No logic. It has been reported for the past 16 months (for CSW layoffs) that the VSO is the monetary equivalent to the "reduction in force" compensation package offered to all those who are fired on layoff day. That said, when you ARE "laid off", you sign a non-disclosure agreement etc, as I'm sure the ones that take the VSO do. It's probably the same paper hahah!
Hold fast; they would like for those people to take the VSO as it makes them less "evil" as they do mass firings, in the public and the private (corporate) eyes. And, it's all the same money... anyone who takes the VSO or gets "laid off" will not be eligible for State of Utah unemployment benefits until the money you've received in lump sum is divided by the calculated benefits-per-week payment you would normally receive.. so when you get a lump sum you can't claim UIB for perhaps several months!
This is why you should not shoot yourself in the foot and "opt out" voluntarily, UNLESS you have viable job prospects, as you will lose that period of "VSO to layoff's" weeks benefits and further complicate your job search. Yeah I know it sucks.
Can somebody please explain the logic of taking a VSO, unless you already had a job lined up? Seems to me, somebody being laid off now has an extra two weeks of pay, along with the accumulated vacation, and now a paid holiday?
Yes, delayed a week because.....believe it or not, the PM's are pissed about losing people and actually want to take part this time.....I guess when it affects them directly they show a little interest.
Delayed one week for management orgies. Have you seen the Wolf of Wall Street? That's Building A.
Guess then if they don't do it today, those layed off will at least get a 3-day weekend.
