The Dirty Secret about EDMC and Veterans

The dirty secret about Vets is they qualify for double the student loans. As a civilian, they can pay up to 90% of their tuition with regular student loans. The last 10% can come out of their GI bill. That translates to 100% of a Vets education paid for by tax dollars going to a billion dollar Corporation on the Stock Exchange. You see the regular students cant qualify for 100% of their schooling through government loans. This means they have to make up the difference with personal loans, parents, savings and so on. A high percentage of them, more then 50% drop out for lack of funds. The school encourages them to keep going until they run dry and then says, oh well, not our fault. The vets will make it all the way through as long as they keep up minimal grades. So vets are the "E" ticket of student recruiting.

For profits only, state colleges and community colleges do not get put in the 90/10 due to the fact they are not 90 % funded from the govt. Its was put in place to keep them honest by making them get say 10,000 people to pay cash out of 100,000 students. if 10k are paying cash say $40,000 to $60,000 it must be a good school Right? there is no way 10,000 people would just throw money at a scam. But with the GI bill loop hole they are free to run a muck if you can understand that. Just google it and read about it.

Are these real figures that you are using or are you generalizing, meaning "All EDMC schools" vs. "All other schools?"

Its different from other schools because other schools do not rely on 90 percent of the income from the government. Without the Vets being in the 10 percent on the 90/10 rule these schools would shut down over night as they would never be able to reach the 10 percent rule.

I only got 24,000 to spend on school when I got out. That was the deal I agreed to when I first signed up.

It is different from other schools because other schools do not prey on Vets as a huge income source. Vets have to apply and get accepted based on their merits like grades or talent like everyone else. Real colleges will turn way unqualified students even when it means losing money because they want the best and brightest. EDMC on the other hand will find a way to sign up anyone and everyone, just for the money. It's supposed to be a school remember? The overall quality of the student body is supposed to count.

The GI bill what what your father had. Now a days you either get a cretin to use on anything like housing or a different amount that goes only for school. Depending on which plan you take, you could not afford to get a 100,000 education with that amount of money. Not without other loans.

You clearly have no idea what you're talking about. The split you described would apply at any school. Or they'd use gi bill to pay for school. Nothing about this is exclusive to EDMC. And it's certainly not a secret. So you're certainly an idiot

How is this any different than what occurs at other schools?

Why would a vet take out a student loan when they have GI bill?

Before they got shut down by the Obama Admin, EDMC was using marketing firms to set up fake official looking websites for vets seeking information on schools. It was a phishing tool that was nothing more then a marking ploy to trick vets into signing up with The Art Institutes. Website like GIBill.com, ArmedForcesEDU.com and UseYourGIBill.us are just a few. They have since been taken down, and all Whois domain information mysteriously deleted. That is pretty sleazy if you ask me. Not to mention un-American.

It's a shame they do that. Vets seem so trusting when they come home and have no clue that these big cooperation just want to "help" them with their GI money.
