Held Accountable

Anyone know if they are going to hold Corinthians College responsible to pay back? I read they are going out of business. That's their way of not being held accountable

Refunding a loan is not at all like giving them cash. The money goes back. The CCI refund issue right now (I forget which college) states that if the loans are not repaid to DOE by a certain time, DOE takes it out of their next payment. At no time does money go to a student. It's basically CCI paying the loan to DOE. There is no refund directly to the student. It would be like a refund of a car loan. Money goes back to bank.

"So, if a student took out 100% of loans, they won't see any refunds." But such student would not have to pay back the loan, so it's just as good as handing the student cash, with the small caveat that the student loans be paid back.

Here is what Anthem/Bryman are doing in AZ: https://d13w8kg63o9ns8.cloudfront.net/sites/default/files/documents/files/8.27.14%20ANTHEM%20TEACH%20OUT%20INFO-082714.pdf

Payback as in revenge?

If OP was a student, I don't know under what circumstances refunds are given, if that's your question. But ANY and ALL monies that a student did not pay will go back to the government or bank (or whatever body) loaned it. So, if a student took out 100% of loans, they won't see any refunds. But, if they get a refund paid back

to the loaner, the student is no longer responsible for paying it back.

I think if CCI schools close, loans can be forgiven by the DOE. But only in very specific instances. (Settle down, bullies. I'm not suggesting CCI is not closing.) If CCI

Sells schools, loans will not be forgiven. I don't know about F and D grades. Probably not. Also, since students are responsible to work with DOE to get loans forgiven, it's unlikely to happen. Most can't bother to come to class unless they're hounded mercilessly. As far as refunds, any given will go back

To whatever loan governed them.

If this really is a student post, then I'm guessing that the student deserves a passing grade.
