http://www.warnactlaw.com/pdfs/20_cfr_639.pdf. The net of this is that a company is required to provide 60 days notice if it is planning to lay off 50 or more from a single site. This would likely apply only to corporate HQ, EUO Springs/Tampa and maybe a couple others. Don't think most campuses have 50 employees. Also don't know that ELT would care if they volated the WARN regulstions (what's one more?) since the company has announced it is selling/folding.

Whoever posted this link either doesn't understand the working of the 3 CCI schools, or didn't bother to read it.
If the company is for sale, which we are, they can layoff as many people as necessary.
WARN is great when a large operation is scheduled to shut down a single production plant, especially if it is a union shop.
Agreed with most here. I've read the act multiple times, and there's just too many ways CCI can get around this. Plus, the act states that subsidiaries of parent companies are considered as separate entities under the WARN act. So, Heald, Wyotech, and Everest could all lay off 50 employees each and there still may not be any violation happening. It's shitty, but that's how the act is written.
100 is no problem if its under 50 per location.
I was laid off without notice in August, without notice.
We talked about this on the board already. There are many ways a company gets out of this. And I think it's only in CA anyway. That's a small percentage of 'COCO's employees.
My contract is 'at will.' Either party can end my job at any time, for any reason.
712, I don't think part timers count. If they do, none of the PT Adjuncts that didn't get classes (technically laid off.)
There's NO notice ever. There are tons of loopholes. One of them is if the company is trying to sell 'in good faith.'
For example when over 100 were laid off in February with no notice?? Yeah, that's pretty funny!
Irrelevant
Oh please. First of all CCi won't layoff the part timers, who will have ZERO hours, but will remain "employed." Next is that the waves can come in at 40 multiple times. And then there are other ways around the WARN act. It's not even applicable to CCi.
