Thread regarding Education Management Corporation layoffs

Tim Moscato introduces Dr. Donna Gray as the new Chief Academic Officer at The Art Institutes. Anyone know anything about her?

So the last attempt by Pufahl to shaft students and faculty alike was shot down and he retired.....

Does anyone know anything about Donna Grey? Is she the flavor of the month or will she actually try to do what's good for the students and faculty and ultimately for the company?

I am older too. I guess we disagree. But anyway, you cant parlay the last 5 years working at a company who looks like ENRON into much I would imagine. For a small 10,000 bump, it would probably be smarter and more profitable in the long run to keep your good name out of it.

Again, I disagree in principle with the argument - But who knows? I mean, I think you give them too much credit for thinking strategically like that - And I seriously doubt they have budgeted in any golden parachutes for her at her pay grade. You seem to be speaking for older people. I'm in my 60s. It's actually the reverse. I'd be cautious about taking a lower paying job unless it offered something like more security or job satisfaction - I'd go for a lateral move for more job satisfaction - And I'd jump at the chance for a position that may have eluded me so far, or that offered a substantial raise I could put towards retirement. It wouldn't be a bribe or parachute - Maybe it's just a 10k annual increase with more experience on my res I could parlay into consulting post retirement age.

Yes, she is doing exactly that, jumping at an opportunity because they promised here some outrageous high pay out. Older people are usually very cautions and there is no way 5 years left on her work life is going to amount to anything for retirement. The only way would have to be some huge golden parachute.

With all due respect 33164 I disagree. I doubt there's a conspiracy or payout for taking the fall. It's just a better job than she's had previously, a better gig. Things are different nowadays, us older people work longer and will jump at opportunities.

She is 60 years old. She only has 5 years to retirement. Most people dont change jobs that close to retirement by choice. I know what they are up to, I have seen this game play out before. Basically if you think a movie or product or project is going to bomb, you hires someone semi-known who is about to retire so they take all the heat. They get to blame her for all the problems, and she gets to retire wish some huge reciprocated pay out, one she can live off of for the rest of her life. Basically, selling out the last few years of her career reputation for some undisclosed dollar amount.

Looks like she left Career Education Corporation in 2010, then went to Illinois Institutes of Arts and now EDMC. Guess she didn't like that last two paces. Basically another career corporate type who found a niche in "art" colleges. Don't expect any positive change from her, she will tow the company line.

She looks like a bundle of joy. http://www.chicagotribune.com/business/ct-biz-mou-gray-donna-photo.html
