I hate this company. After 8 years of busting my ass for them, I'm being treated like a commodity to be disposed of in the cheapest way possible. I just got a PIP for absolutely no reasonable cause. Just blah, blah, not a great team player, blah, blah, could perform better, blah, blah, heart not really into it, blah, blah. Not ONE example of anything I could have done better. As though I don't know it's just to start firing so they don't have to pay effing unemployment. They've given out five this week in my department alone. I hate them! Assholes!!!

33391: We had an employee who had to quit once because the stress of her job was causing her serious physical illness. She was actually losing her hair. Bizarre, but true. I'll bet she got unemployment!
With the situation this company is in, it would be highly unlikely anyone will be denied unemployment compensation. Even if CCi would try to block it, you have a right to a hearing with the unemployment board. Once the unemployment board sees how CCi employees have been working under stress because of the situation they will rule in your favor. I wouldn't worry about it.
33315- There will be no need for an appeal, since the determination will be in the former employee's favor.
It might not hurt for anyone suddenly getting PIPS to call unemployment and find out what documentation you may need if your school disputes unemployment in the event of an unexpected firing. Something smells fishy.
What 319 said!!! If you haven't, maybe start looking for a new job now, since it could take some time to find one. And, at least in my state, it can take a minimum of 21 days to hear back from unemployment. If your school disputes it, that will take longer. That means if the fire you, your last paycheck could be it for awhile. At this point, it's best to get put as soon as you can.
OP; Good luck to you. Normally when someone has a good inkling they'll be fired, I'd say to leave first. In this case (and job market) I'd stick around as long as you can and collect documentation every day. Document (1) any aspect of your employment and the unfairness of the PIP that you can, and (2) any instances of wrongdoing, such as the now infamous not dropping of students after 14 days or fudging attendance. You're not going to blackmail them, but you might want those later. If nothing else, it'll make you feel better to tattle on them and give the state AGs and feds ammunition. CCi will be over within a few short months no matter what. If you get fired, you can just lie and say you quit once there's nobody at CSC to confirm.
33291 - not in Florida. Well over 90% of unemployment appeals are turned down. Our politicians send letters boasting about it to encourage businesses to relocate here. Worst state for employee protections.
Save all your reviews and any emails you've received in praise of your job by a manager. If you've been an employee in good standing for a long time, that should supersede a Lane attempt by CCI to be asses and prevent unemoyment.
If the fire you, you CAN collect unemployment.
