Thread regarding Follett layoffs

Don't get it

I seriously do not understand the motivation behind getting rid of every knowledgable text person at Home Office. Who are these people being replaced by?

They were all replaced with ex Kmarters and friends and neighbors of DG.

I detect sarcasm in your post, but sales were strong. I don't know how because I can't name a single initiative that the new leadership team put in place and most of the initiatives were from previous leadership. Perhaps it takes a couple of years for some of the programs to take hold. Sales you can't control, but bottom line and cost control they can, will be a difficult fall.

Then the Rush (3QTR) numbers will be released after Sept month end to share the good news right?

The numbers never get released so you can say whatever just like last year. Outside of a few stores sales are down.

The coming year's results will be the best ever! This will be clear vindication for the management team. Despite every trend in the marketplace indicating Follett continuing it's downward spiral, the results will shock everyone into euforia.

Each move has only been surpassed by its successor. These people are brilliant and they should be respected as the pseudo-cleric that they are.

Sounds like last year just rumors then just hinted to results six months later with an entirely different spin on how bad it was.

Everyone is telling lies to everyone, smiling to everyone face and then talking about them behind their backs. Funny about the numbers too since most of the stores I spoke said they were way down.

Yep. Get rid of them, or threaten to by using cowardly intimidation methods, abuse of power and lies. The weak and undeserving do not like to be upstaged, it's funny how it quickly turns into insubordination.

Wait till the fall rush results are released. They are significantly better than in previous years.

Maybe forecasting text is the same as forecasting demand of any other merchandise categories?

Getting rid of all the associates that knew the business makes perfect sense if you don't want anyone around to point how stupid your decisions are. For example, why is MLS's dream team spending the same amount of money on one national marketing campaign as they used to spend on three? Noodle on that.

Why did MLS spend $30K remodeling her office in RG when she knew she would be in a new office in 2 years. I need power blinds - too much work close them by hand. BTW, the office was good enough for CT and CF, both family members. Noodle on that you worthless peasants.

Replacing them with stupid people who look good and get to work on easy projects? It's definitely an ongoing theme. Promotions in under a year are surreal and uncommon, yet a new norm at Follett. They are using all kinds of manipulation to get one to quit or fire them. Just a sad, new, non-integral era sprinkled with unbelievable moves, clear nepotism and stupidity.

I had a co-worker blatantly lie on me to gain favor with my boss. This is the same co-worker who talked about the boss like a dog.....unsolicited. A new dirty era is upon us.
