Thread regarding Corinthian Colleges Inc. layoffs

Raise your hand if you think a company that collects on defaulted student loans will get DOE approval to start up a college?

That literally makes no sense. The company by it's own business model WANTS students to fail/default. It's in direct conflict with ANY college goal. I'm sorry, but I think ECMC as a viable sale option is a joke. Accreditation bodies don't seem likely to approve that either.

697, agreed. Even if they were interested, it would be an uphill battle to purchase CCI schools.

ECMC currently has 4 job listings, all for back end developers in DC. They purchased an online financial aid info site (money comes from ads), but I don't see them buying us. Not a good match and really not their business.

CCI employees are pathetic. Are you all praying to god to move from a boiler room that scams people out of money to a boiler room that collects from the ones you just scammed? Losers.

ECMC is more than a collector of defaulted loans, go to ecmcfoundation.org and see the bigger picture, they are also in the business of assisting a population of students who need more hands-on assistance to succeed at post-secondary education, a perfect match for CCI population

Hey, 650 could you check the ECMC job board for us?

For all we know they could purchase CCI, scrap all the ground campuses, and turn the remaining assets into some sort of mega collections operation. Who says we have to stay an educational institution?

I believe they have already gotten past the DOE approval or they wouldn't be wasting time and money touring campuses. Besides, it's a perfect match for the DOE. They won't have to worry about student loan defaults with ECMC in charge.

(hand up) Yes, 900 writes the truth, which ECMC will treat with reckless disregard.

(hand up) Yes, (no matter how unethical it is) considering ECMC has an exclusive contract from the DOE to collect on the DOE's defaulted student loans.
