Thread regarding Corinthian Colleges Inc. layoffs

Notice Given

I just accepted a new position and gave my notice - I see someone yesterday posted the recruiter site I used, among others: http://www.thelayoff.com/corinthian-colleges/post/5707170813313024

The jobs are out there, so use your resources.

This is the OP. I just walked, gave my notice that I wasn't coming back. I would never recommend to anyone that you pay someone to find you a job. Every single one of those links are groups that take your information/resume and do not charge you for it. They have internal postings at their fingertips. Take it or leave it, your choice, but it worked for me. Just trying to be helpful.

BTW - 929 - you need to scroll down, or just copy and paste the link that I put in my original post...it will get you to the post from yesterday!

I used to work for a you-pay-recruiter site. You do get services. They are very, very expensive and you do most of the work (like they'll look at your resume but you do all the editing/writing.) they have 'jobs' but not as many as free sites. And if you find a job yourself, they count that as their success. Sound familiar? The business model is not unlike cci's.

35929 - Agreed. No need to pay someone to find your job. Not money well spent. Recruiters who are paid by the employer can be a useful resource, but be sure to utilize other strategies as well. Be prepared for those recruiters to treat you as inventory. The job boards are, again, one resource, but don't depend on that as your only strategy either. Most jobs are found the old fashioned way - research, phone calls, emails, networking, persistance, persitance, persistance.

Nobody posted anything about a recruiter site yesterday. I watch these boards very carefully. Beware the recruiter sites. Do NOT pay someone to get you a job!!!

I've heard of three of the four sites mentioned and know them to be legitimate. The fourth one probably is as well. Specialized talent firms are nice because they can recognize your mastery of your field (SF is a great example - always in demand). They also get paid when they fill the spot, so they'll tend to talk you up to the hiring contact.

I would not give notice. I would just walk. CCI is not good enough for notice.

Yeah, it sounds questionable that someone would say "gave my notice" when we know company policy is not to accept a notice. So why quotation marks around "former" employee? And if you're gone, why not post your name and location?
