What is a PIP?

I hear other instructors talking about this but do not know what they are?

Because I was honest and didn't document it in Talimsa. Looking back, maybe I should have been dishonest and put it into Talisma even though I didn't make the calls. I fully expect no classes next term because of the PIP. Which is ok, I have a full time gig and teach part time. What I don't get is why give me the PIP, when they could just not assign me to classes fall term. This has happened to two other adjuncts in our department. Strange things ......

If you use a personal phone, how do they know you didn't do it?

Basically, its just an official document saying that you screwed up, you won't do it again and a "plan for improvement". I got one a few weeks ago for not doing enough outreach. I refuse to use my personal cell phone to make outreach calls to students and it was while Skype wasn't working. A lot of instructions are getting PIP's for BS reasons.

Trust me, at CCi PIP is a VERY bad word. Put it out of your mind and hope you never hear it again!

Performance Improvement Plan. You are told they are designed to help you to improve your performance, but 99% of the time they just write one up to justify firing someone.
