Instructors might not get paid for break

After grades are turned in you will most likely get an email that will tell you that the 2 week break time will be unpaid.

This all, of course, is assuming there IS a next term or module or whatever schools call them.

Also, Everest gets one week off. There's a several day grace period for grades and you usually don't get your classes assigned until that week. Much needs to be done to 'prep' for classes, especially considering how much editing the classes need because of mistakes. Plus, we have to set up everything to personalize it. That's not something that can be done quickly on a Monday morning. It's an hourslong process per class.

935, that's not two weeks. There are several days between the day classes end and the day grades are due. That would not leave a full two weeks to take a furlough.

Heald does get a 2 week break for students, but instructors have to work the second week, at least they do at my campus.

I think the original post said after grades are turned in.

Again, why would they make instructors take a leave before final grades are due? That makes NO sense?!?!

So they're saying that F-T instructors at Heald will not be paid for the two week break. has that been confirmed or just rumor? At least we know from the two recent unpaid days emails that they'll be forbidden from working on those days.

There are schools on terms and then there are the schools with only modular programs. There are several different academic calendars. This is not a quick and easy thing to sort out.

Why would they not pay salaried employees for break? Certainly they are still doing work like grading, prepping, attending meetings, working on projects, etc? Also, adjuncts WOULDN'T get paid. We are on contract for teaching dates only.

Two weeks? Hmmmm. Sounds like a trouble making troll.

The EUO break (aka Week 0) is Monday, October 6 through Sunday, October 12. One week, not two. Maybe Heald and Wyotech gets 2 weeks? Most of end up working that week since final grades are due by Wednesday, October 8 and we typically set up the classes the Friday, Saturday, or Sunday before the new term begins -- in this case Monday, October 13.

Adjuncts never get paid for breaks. This would only apply to full time instructors. My guess is some will be laid off and if there is a need they will use adjuncts as they do not get benefits.
