Other than applause to 733 for a nod to Scientific American, there is nothing to see, here folks. Camden Kid is off and running with more of the same. Nothing new to report. As a life-long supporter of the free market, this scenario causes some conflicts. Clearly the career school sector has served a given demograpic for many years - decades, in fact. I believe that he current issues stem from too many schools competing for too few students. Usually, competition produces better quality products in order to attract customers. In this case, the diminishing pool of students (and the resulting poor quality of those student) has resulted in admissions organizations enrolling less capable students. As such, the quality of the education was watered down to keep the students - and their loan revenue - at the school. I agree that people are responsible for their own choices. But when those choices are made based on false or misleading information, it is time for the government to act. Some industries (airlines, banks, healthcare) are regulated in the best interest of the consumer. Perhaps education falls into that category.

Half the posters blame the government for over-regulating CCI out of business, and the other half blame a lack of regulation for letting CCI run amok in the first place. We don't live in a nanny state. People, including individual students picking a college, are responsible for their own choices, even bad ones.

The Feds are to blame equally. They allowed this mess with all private schools in the name of liberalism, economy fix, everyone needs to go to college, etc.
