Thread regarding Education Management Corporation layoffs

Hello There

Just wanted join the discussion and let you know that the great work we do couldn't happen without all of you. I appreciate your efforts, even those who disagree with the direction EDMC has taken and have been vocal about it here. We will continue to do what's best for our students. Keep in mind that reductions in key strategic areas help us reduce the cost of education to students and going forward that is our number one priority. Due to the difficult economy and current regulatory environment, there may be further reductions. But rest assured those will mainly affect faculty and support positions. Those reductions will allow us to increase our budget for marketing and continue to work with some of the lead generation companies that help us make education accessible to those underserved by traditional colleges (i.e. - welfare recipients duped into thinking they've won a prize, military veterans with head trauma, people with IQ's less than 100, etc). You may have heard that we are being sued by the U.S government for 11 billion dollars and face multiple other lawsuits and investigations by State Attorneys General. You may have heard that the company's stock has declined in value by almost 95% this year (make that 98%...it’s been another rough day for the market) and recall that we have recently decided to delist from the Nasdaq. You may even have heard that three of our AI schools just made Washington Monthly Magazine's list of the 20 worst colleges in America. I assure you that these are just minor setbacks. Our new strategic plan entitled "Doing More with Less...Much Less" will be rolled out in the coming weeks. I look forward to continuing to work with all of you (well...maybe not all) to improve the lives of our students.

Best

Ed

Funny! But the sad thing is that all that shit is true, all except for the "We will continue to do what's best for our students" part.

Wow, the way that was written was so close to how EDMC talks it took may half the way into it before I realize it was a parody. The corporate 1980's Baby Boomer management style double talk is so prolific with that company.
