Thread regarding L-3 Communications Holdings Inc. layoffs

Suggestion for Improvement

Although the experiment to allow the "arrogant and incompetent" to lead L-3 CSW has been oddly interesting, (really, could these boobs have done any worse?) you have to ask the question “how in the hell could this have happened?” Aren’t big corporations motivated to make profits, increase shareholders value, and stuff like that? It’s costing L-3 untold fortunes, lost customers, the inability to perform, damaged reputation and personal harm to employees and their families. And yet the ‘leadership’ is doing just fine with their inflated salaries, bonuses and stock options despite how badly they are bungling things.

Maybe the current state of affairs has resulted from a “Darwinistic System” that has somehow perversely developed at L-3 CSW. It appears that the L-3 selection process for advancing up the ranks has somehow morphed over time and determined the preferred characteristics of brown nosing, buck passing, manipulation of the truth, passive aggressive bullying and the ability to vilify others while self promoting to be most desirable traits. The selection process for promotion has resulted in the current group of sycophant suck-ups to rise to the top of the management structure.

It is not the strongest or the most intelligent that are surviving and prospering at L-3, but those who can best deny reality, and seduce senior level management into pulling them up the chain of command. Psychopaths love being surrounded by sycophants. Greed and self-interest may have gotten them their positions, but those character traits can only yield more destruction, loss and pain. It's time to find new leadership. Sorry, but sometimes the truth hurts and often when it does, it should.

The few times I was at meetings with Opp and her VP staff I'd never seen such a collection of shallow, egotistical, old school blowhards.

When a moron like craig Gibson who has NO intelligence or facilities credentials can land a VP spot using only interpersonal manipulation and shameless ass kissing something is very wrong!

just remember, the quarterback is always taking the snap from some sucker bent over at the waist looking back at him through his legs.

add val (soon to be sporting a new ear ring) to your list, the promotion of engineering over all other disciplines (even though we don't really engineer anything anymore) and a bunch of self sustaining pods, mostly under the guise of the beast that is operations, producing off the wall reports that are readily available within the system, to satiate managers that need to provide information to the decision makers, most of whom are looking for the silver bullet that doesn't exist.

Me, I have worked with SAP before in other companies, but just keep my mouth shut, and listen to the questions that are asked by so called analysts, some of whom even work in my department. These aren't unique metrics you are looking for, they already exist as intrinsic reports, so does the functionality that you decry doesn't exist. You guys are data whores that really produce no meaningful information, probably because you don't know what you want and also because you think you are learning some new valuable job skill.

As for brett evans, whoever that is, who cares, let's all put our hands together and thank him for his efforts, whatever they may be. I just ask, is he doing it for free? I would guess not, like most that accept tasks that are optional, he did it with the intent of self promotion and who can blame him, but don't cry when people call you out, maybe it is a you issue.

It is interesting this topic continues to be brought up because they have made significant management changes from top down. S. Opp, B. Jensen, W. Child, T. Hollingsworth, K. Moring, D. Allen, on and on. A lot of talk about Brett Evans, but he just was given the task to help. He didn't want the job, but he was asked to take it. They are looking for a replacement for Hollingsworth outside the company now. Change is happening, but it is going to take time to turn the boat around. New leadership is being found, but obviously not quick enough for all the desktop quarterbacks.
