Thread regarding Follett layoffs

Technology is needed to move the business forward

How can my department and the company move forward when IT can only work on ONE project. Output is actually decreasing after the outsourcing. Does my team get the benefit of working on one thing?

I have seen it but I am absolutely going to watch The Happening just to see the construction scene. I don't want to wish ill will but some need to get off their pedestal.

Pushing the envelope? Noone is pushing the envelope and that includes all the new talent from kmart and sears. Nothing new is happening - we are on the same course that Tom Christopher was leading and guiding.

Anyone still working here knows not to push the envelope. To exist here is to act like a robot, I know, don't speak unless spoken to and whatever you do don't create any type of wave even a ripple. Just say yes, yes. We don't see a future here anymore but if "many current leaders across departments fall to their demise" well all we can say is we saw it coming and those who tried to offer educated suggestions we fired, so there is not much empathy for the results considering they had no empathy for any one else especially the customers.

Those of you who stay in line and not push the envelope will get to see many leaders across departments fall to their demise. Kind of like the construction scene from The Happening.

Oh CNS learn from history, pride (and arrogance) is always present before a fall and be careful because the people who you stepped on during your way up are the people you are going to meet on your way down.

Why the paranoia Anonymous53064? No one hates you. We hold CNS to the highest levels of respect as we do ALL our UTILITIES, like ComEd, the plumbing, and oh yeah, the elevator repair company. CNS, CNS,CNS! ComEd, ComEd, ComEd! Rotorooter! Rotorooter! Rotorooter! Otis Elevator, Otis Elevator, Otis Elevator!

I don't hate the team. I simply dislike one particular jerk. It has nothing to do with performance and everything to do with personality.

First 52922 doesn't get that the attitude displayed on this board is arrogant and inappropriate. Jerk is the polite term. Second, those of us who work from home at all know that the network infrastructure isn't that great. We have to work around the poor connectivity all the time. CNS is useless. They may have convinced ML, but some of us know better.

When I turn on the lights and they work I cheer! ComEd, ComEd, ComEd We need to give them a raise! They're the best. I couldn't do any work without them! And when I flush the toilet and it works I cheer, we've got the best plumbers ever! We need to give them a raise. We make lots of money because the crappers work! We make lots of money because the electricity works! WOW! You lay off the Blue Book leadership team, revenue stream dies and who pays for the infrastructure? Well, we'll just lay off more people and make the poor bastards that are left work harder. Ha, ha, ha, ha! CNS, CNS, CNS!

You take for granted that when you arrive at work, your network and email are available. We are just like electricity. The work stops when the network is down.

CNS is the infrastructure and foundation of everything that is done at Follett.

@52922 does get it. MLS and Sanjeev don't know how the network works so they let them have anything they want even though they don't add a dime to the bottom line. CNS rules and the Family gets screwed. Kind of like that. CNS,CNS,CNS!Screw the associates that made you rich, the plumbing works! Yeah!

Blue Book has gone to hell in a hand basket (a profit center) due to Senior Management decision to rid Follett of those experienced leaders who had expert knowledge of that business but CNS (NOT a profit center) has kept adding to their head count. Wow, MLS MUST be a genius! How can MLS fail??? CNS, CNS, CNS!

@52728 - no, you can be confident without being a jerk. YOU are a jerk. It has nothing to do with whether or not you do your job. And CNS is NOT the only department that is growing with internal resources.

And yet another company learns its lesson.

A number of project development will go back to U.S. Majority of layoffs will occur in Chennai and Bang.

Much fear in indian teams. don't know the exact date. What % of layoff in india is expected? When it will happen?

There are plenty of plugged toilets in the city. We are the finest plumbers and oh so cost effective. The only department that continues to grow with internal resources, not shrink to Infosys.

CNS – Corporate Network Services? What’s the big deal? CNS is like the plumber and the plumbing. It’s not a profit center. When you take a dump and flush you EXPECT the plumbing to work. You don’t say WOW what great plumbers and what a great plumbing job. If it doesn’t work you fire the f**king plumber and get another one. Sheesh, you got to be kidding! Maybe Sanjeev doesn’t know how the network works so he’s scared of them? How pathetic. Like all the outsourcing, Follett is getting raped and can’t figure it out. CNS, CNS, CNS!

Absolutely agree that the technical managers in IT are responsible for this ongoing mess. I was the only one to push back on outsourcing, of course I now don't work there anymore. Stand for something!

Technical debt should include all senior management and outsourcing by MLS.

I think in this case the technical debt also applies to the technical management

technical debt (also known as design debt(1) or code debt) is a recent metaphor referring to the eventual consequences of poor system design, software architecture or software development within a codebase.
