Thread regarding Corinthian Colleges Inc. layoffs

What, we have HR all of a sudden?!?

What do you guys make of this? From out of nowhere it seems as though we now have an HR department. They've been calling about complaints filed months/years ago and are suddenly oh so concerned about our abusive managers. Tell it to ECMC, losers! EVERYONE here is going to tell them that we went to you over and over, often groups of us, and you did nothing. The only changes that ever happened were people mysteriously being fired after our "confidential" discussions. You were and still are a waste of space and no company would want your sorry, lazy asses.

HR has one duty and one Duty only. To protect the company. YOU DON'T MATTER!

CCI HR = The Zombie Apocalypse. Take heed, if you accidentally wander into their lair they will eat your brains. We don't ever see them because they usually live under the floorboards, feasting on the poor fools they've RIFed.

Seriously, stay away from CCi HR! I'm an ex-employee (re-employed and like everyone says, it's much, much better elsewhere) who complained about an abusive manager. Anywhere else there would have been an investigation due to the nature of the incidents that had occurred. At CCi, HR blew me off and I received a vague PIP a few days later followed by being fired shortly after with no reason given. They are less like a department and more like a coven!

Word to the wise -- our "HR" people know that what they've been doing is unethical, contrary to modern management practice, and probably illegal in some cases. They are going batshit crazy now trying to cover their asses so they have a hope of staying on with ECMC. Steer clear of them and be sure to relay info about their competence and ethics to ECMC when the chance arises. Anonymous is fine, they just need to know to keep a close eye on HR and engage in some due diligence in investigating how they've operated in the past. If ECMC has a functional corporate HR department, they will have no interest in keeping these idiots on board.

Yep. Lynn Westerfield was useless. Unless you needed cigarettes, or something to look at and laugh at. Same with regional employees, some were smart as f*** and still wouldn't train you or presidents. If they trained you, you might become smart enough to drop students on time, not enroll student without fa, or count to 14, the amount of days when students are dropped for not showing up for class. Sad.

No kidding! I reported a serious, serious problem to HR and no action was taken. The HR ghosts seem to glide around unseen until a Director or above needs them.

CCI HR was one of managements tools for eliminating "problem" employees. When employees would go to HR about an issue with management, that employee usually found the exit relatively quick. If management had an issue with employees questioning the very questionable practices of CCI, a simple chat to HR set up a witch hunt to lead to the employees termination. The sheer depths that HR would go to eliminate "problems" makes me confident in my belief that CCI HR was designed exclusively to investigate and eliminate "problems." If I were any of you dealing with HR's recent attempts....tell them no thanks. ECMC will be laying off a lot of people, and the CCI HR will be among them.

I think CCi's perspective on HR was always "what can we get away with?" So in states without employee protections (eg FL) we really haven't had anything that could be called an HR department, at least in terms of protecting workers from abuse or investigating complaints. In places like CA, which has a more active government in that area, there is HR (albeit a very lackadaisical variety). What smarter companies realize is that it's not only about "getting away with it" but also about employee loyalty and morale. The managers in Tampa (and I mean pretty much all of them at the mall) went crazy with power. They seem to try to outdo each other when it comes to being a jerk. Now they are going to be investigated by ECMC, and there will be a lot of people speaking up. They'll be let go and have to start looking for a new job. Well, guess what? My ex co-worker friends at Citi, Wellcare, other colleges, and other major employers in the area are providing me with inside leads and recommendations. Think about someone like DS trying to get a job in Tampa bay. He might get hired, but unless it's a start-up, there's going to be someone already there who will want him out. He, and the rest of them, have really burned their bridges.

HR has been and always will be a joke at EUO online and I'm sure many other places.
