Thread regarding Education Management Corporation layoffs

FY'15 Meetings

Has anyone had their meetings yet today? Anything telling in those? Ours was conveniently schedule for 5-6pm today. No time for questions. That's how they like it around here. Do we think we'll get any real information in these? TIA for any input.

The meeting was a complete joke. About a week ago there were 2 Outlook invites sent out. One for an open forum chat w/ Julie Johnson and another (from 5-6pm) for the FY'15 Strategy Map Training. OF COURSE, the night before at 5:45 Julie cancelled the open forum meeting, our only chance to ask her questions about what's going on. And though we all know that she'd BS her way through it and not be transparent whatsoever, it was beyond frustrating that she made it crystal clear that our questions and concerns don't matter.

Then during the FY'15 Strategy meeting she basically had us read aloud her power point, that meant absolutely nothing to us. THEN THERE WAS AN ACTIVITY. I almost flipped a table. The activity was basically brainstorming how to make advising, and The Center better. What a GD joke!!! She wasted all of our time. We thought we'd get some real time to ask real questions and she basically slapped us in the face.

I'm furious.

What about faculty? Will there be faculty layoffs, and where will they be? Will it be performance or seniority based?

I'll tell you the information that they will not tell you, however wish they could. The go forward plan does not include as many people as it did in the past. They need to cut costs somewhere. Do you think they are going to trim their own salaries, or yours? Get out now, before they end up laying you off, eliminating your position, or finding a reason to fire you. While it may be hard to believe and face, these upper management souls do not care about low level employees. When it comes down to brass tax, they only care about saving their own positions. Sorry this may seem direct, however I feel you deserve the truth, not some endless game that continues to drag on.

There are many other companies in the area who are hiring for similar salaries. They include SnapRetail, Fedex, ADP, & Comcast. Look online. Move on, you will be much more mentally healthy.
