People should make it clear if they are online or campus. These aren't exactly the same environments.
Its all abput our core values: Never let annoying educational standards and processes stand in the way of a good revenue stream.
Basically, students don't have to do much to stay in the class and get attendance, then they can do the missed work (i.e. main post, quizzes, homework)in the 2nd to last week and they can pass. The only thing they are not supposed to do is the response postings, but many instructors even give them that. It means they can basically ignore the classes until the end. It's crap and makes the classes a joke.
