Yes, absolutely right that culture comes from top to bottom. Qualcomm is run by a bunch of lawyers, who believe in competition within the workplace. This culture has propagated all over Qualcomm. We have to compete with another Qualcomm group to keep our job. Good engineering companies don’t run things this way. Old Atheros was made up of a team of engineers that work toward a common goal, and we did not try to take jobs from someone else. People who only look out for their own interest will eventually do more harm to the team and the company, than they could ever contribute. Unfortunately, those people are not the target of layoff.
