Thread regarding Schlumberger Ltd. layoffs

Recommendations to make posting better for everybody looking for layoff information about Schlumberger

Do not post from a Schlumberger computer (even your SLB laptop from home) – They have the right to track your internet activity if it is on their computers.

Protect your identity – do not give enough details that would make it possible to know who you are.

Try to be specific about what region/segment/group/etc. you are posting about. It’s a huge company operating all around the world.

Read what you wrote before you post it. There is some really bad writing here that is hard to understand what the poster is really trying to say.

Let your colleagues and friends know about this board so many more will view & post. Do not do this using SLB Email!

Be clear about what is rumor and what you know to be a fact. Rumors can be useful, but let us know.

I submitted the first post and didn't miss anything. As I stated to the poster, I'm sure he/she has good intentions giving his recommendations. My point is simply who cares if anyone within SLB knows who is posting on this board? If you are already cut from the company what's the difference. I watched the SLB circus from 1976 - 2012 when I was cut. It's no different now than it was then. If you're afraid of what they might learn about you, you probably won't be called back anyway so don't get too paranoid about it. I do agree with the poster on not using any SLB resources to communicate unless it's company business. There could be repercussions from that. Good luck and speak your mind. That's something that even the mighty Big Blue can't take away from you. Been there, done that, threw away the t-shirt.

FYI. 1st Amendment rights only protect you from the government, not businesses. (i.e., they are not applicable here).

To the 1st reply on this post...... Wow!..... Please read the post again. You obviously missed the points being made. I saw no attack on anybody's 1st amendment rights or on anyone's credibility. The poster was making suggestions to encourage more posting by more people and to do so without letting SLB HR people identify them. I would guess that most posters are here because it is anonymous.....

I'm sure you are well-intentioned. However, last time I checked we live in a country, The United States of America, where free speech is a right. Whatever I post on this forum can stand up to any test as far as facts are concerned. If someone wants to know who I am I'll be more than happy to supply him/her with my identity. If he/she knows me there will be no doubt as to my credibility. There's a lot of information on the web about SLB announcing a reduction of at least 9000 people this year. Those are numbers cited by SLB. Good luck to all of the present and past SLB employees.
