I saw an opening for this department. Anyone know the culture of the group. I was told it has gone through many changes; some not good.

The culture of the group is they're a bunch of FFFUCKing idiots. I know first hand because I deal with them quite a bit.
First, we don't have a hiring freeze. Second, the number of revenue accountants has nothing to do with total revenue. Lastly, yes, the Accounting group does have some of the smartest people in the industry. Don't judge the company by the whining jackasses on this site.
Revenue's dropping, slashing the capital budget, don't think more accountants will be needed anytime soon, most likely will be seeing some go

Who were the "crooks" you are referring to? Are you suggesting fraudulent activity? Or are you just upset with the pay adjustments? Should I be concerned about "crooks" there now? I heard accounting has some of the smartest people in the industry.
Be careful with the advice you take. After the departure of the "Crooks"we finally have an open culture in accounting where you can easily communicate with management. most of us have seen salary adjustments upward finally at chk which was known to pay extremely low. I wish the Crooks would have headed out earlier to AEP.
Much has changed in that group over that past several years. Since the departure of Dale cook it has deteriorated quickly. Lots of back stabbing and power struggles by individuals that are clueless. Watch DO and JL and TV closely if you come aboard.
