Thread regarding Education Management Corporation layoffs

Restructuring

Is there any reason why the Center is calling current students to cancel / reschedule them? Is the role of the campus registrar being centralized?

So they let go all associate and assistant registrars. Are they going to get rid of the campus registrars too and use a system like DeVry? Is the registrar safe? They centralized 10% of my job (which I have yet to send to them and still do it all). They moved our academic advisor to my office to advise (FERPA violations!). I am looking to leave the company right now but wanted to know if anyone knows if the next layoffs will be Feb. Or July. Will the campus registrar go too?

Restructuring is to centalize the many campuses that are not or on target for closures (registaur, financial aid, business office, etc) which is the last 1/3 of the realignment that should come to pass mid year but withhold the strategy from those to be affected until the last possible moment (a friday 4:30pm) instead a headsup on the job search. Ps secure another job now then corporate pays no severance benefits. Ps leave on your terms not theirs. Just saying you heard it here February not July.

Could work considering the incompetent local registaurs that cannot do SAP, evaluate transfer credit, VA student credit reviews so give another the chance to fail. So instead of hiring competent people and terminate as needed lets just get another to do it. EDMC is a circus that more and more students are not willing to pay for an over valued education any longer

Yes, lots of centralization to come. Registrars, advisors, financial aid will be next as well as accounting. No need for any of these functions at the campus. Most of the other for profits did this 7-8 years ago so once again EDMC behind the times which explains the huge debt, lawsuits, GI scam, etc.
