Drug Testing at Baker Hughes

Please excuse my ignorance as I work in Finance - why are we doing all the drug tests our folks are reporting here? Is this a regular thing or another scheme to eliminate people?

It's a common practice so those employees using illegal drugs are terminated which reduces amount of layoffs and money that's paid in severance.

I think the original poster was asking a honest question that was questioning timing of and not the need for the testing process

Fail a drug test = fired. No severance or other benefits are paid. A previous employer of mine did this. Tested everyone in one day. Fired one guy. The next week we had a layoff.

Don't use illegal drugs if you don't want to get caught in this "scheme".
